I don't know what did the Irelia player drink before going top, but I'm sure something bad was in it. Or he was simply bad.
A good
Irelia should completely crush
Nasus. The dog doesn't fare well against any popular pick these days, besides maybe
Yorick because he can sustain through his constant spam, but even so he can still lose to
Yorick.
A good

People under-estimate
Nasus imo. He enters the lane with more lifesteal than
Wriggle's Lantern and has the biggest slow in the game, where leaves your enemy unable to fight, and unable to run. In the past I've just sat in a lane farming for a few minutes, taking all my enemy's harass, then next time they tried to harass me I'd
Wither them and go all out on them for the entire duration of
Wither, and I'd have more HP than them despite having done nothing but farm so far.
Nasus's weakest point in the game is early-game, but that's only because his late-game is so ****ing incredible. People exaggerate how bad his early-game is, it's actually pretty decent, it just doesn't compare to his late-game.

Any champion that can slow Irelia when she activates
Hiten Style will do fairly well.
Malphite and
Jax come to mind. I guess
Nasus works too, voyboy said
Gragas does pretty well against her top.
but then again I think
Irelia would be pretty much on free farm against
Nasus and an Irelia on free farm is a hell of alot scarier than a farmed-nasus imo

but then again I think

Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!
Also,
Jax vs
Irelia during early-levels is a skill match-up, then becomes advantage
Jax, but late-game becomes advantage
Irelia. I know because I 1v1'd my friend once as
Irelia and he mains solo top
Jax, and I first blooded him, I kept winning engagements and went on to 4/0, and then, as ******ed as it was, with lower farm and 4 less kills, he started beating me in straight-forward 1v1 engagements in the jungle with no prior poking involved, and I went 4/4. I bitterly admitted that for some reason I couldn't kill him in straight-forward fights anymore and just kept farming during the rest of the game. Eventually when we both had full builds I was able to crush him in fights.
But that was a 1v1 with no interruptions from ganks or team-fights, in a more realistic scenario, it's a skill match-up early on and then becomes advantage
Jax.
Irelia goes on to scale better into late-game than
Jax though, I think.

Omg, I completely forgot Nasus slows the attack speed, too! I haven't played him in ages.
Considering that, he should be fine against her, but still if

As far as my knowledge is concerned Jax and Irelia late games are nearly identical in terms of damage/survivability.
Fighting in top lane Jax vs Irelia is skill based. It's all about ability usage and knowing when to engage Jax then disengage when he pops counterstrike.
As for Nasus vs Irelia. Nasus has a single advantage to tip the fight in his favor, Wither. However if Irelia disengages and waits for Wither to wear off, once it does, she can combo him and force Nasus to ult or run because her sustained+initial burst is incredibly powerful. Nasus needs to farm his Q, but if Irelia simply abuses him early and denies him farm, the midgame trades should be in Irelia's favor. As well Irelia's late game potential is much higher than that of Nasus who basically becomes a walking slow bot.
I may be wrong because I never see Nasus, due to his lack of "viability"

Nasus late game can go in a 1 v 5 and get away with a pentakill, seen that with my owns eyes, he's really one monster in late game.
The problem when you want to disengage as Irelia against wither is that even if you Q away to a minion, he can easily catch up to you, that's just how strong that slow is, thought it will go off soon after.
However, I do believe that a good Irelia have all of her chances to win this lane.
