Title.

No I don't mean what if low tier items built into more things, I mean what if high tier items could be built from more than one path?

For example, what if Youmuu could build from Bruta + Avarice, OR Zeal + Avarice + Longsword or something

What if Bloodthirster built from B.F sword + Vamp scept, OR 2X Pickaxe + Vamp scept.

Obviously the recipe prices would be different depending on what you built from.

This could allow for different build paths, for champions who don't want to build certain items all that much, but they want but have what the items build from. Additionally, when items are simply much too expensive to start early on, and you can't really buy anything, this would help. (If you want an early BT, and you have your vamp already, and are sitting on 1100 gold. Or if you're rushing Zhonya and obviously don't really need a chain vest for mid lane, and don't have the 1600 for a needless, and can't buy anything)

What does everyone think of this idea? Good or bad? o:

Mmm... It would be difficult to represent graphically in the shop, which would make the shop much more confusing than it already is. I remember not knowing what any of the items were or how to build them when I started the game, and having multiple ways of building items would only make this worse.

I don't know if it's at all realistic to implement, either. Taking your Youmuu's example, building it out of a Zeal doesn't make much sense, because Youmuu's doesn't actually have those stats. Sure, its active gives AS and MS, but the item itself doesn't. And there are no items that give worse stats than the total of the items used to build them. The only instances of items losing abilities when upgraded are the GP10 items losing their GP10 passive and Catalyst losing it's passive when upgraded into a Banshee's Veil, but even in those cases the stats themselves remain. There aren't many items that could realistically be built multiple ways, I don't think, without massively running into this issue.

That said, it could be fun to think up alternate possible build paths anyway.

Youmuu doesn't give any AS by default? Really? o.O
I can't remember the last time I built, or even seen it built for that matter, so I didn't know lol, that was a poor example then xD

I agree that it would be hard on the new players, but eventually they'd learn. o:

I dunno, didn't even really think about it, just an idea that randomly popped into my head lol. I guess mainly I just hate both B.F sword, and Needlessly Large Rod as items, and wish I could build smaller items, and this was a solution to that in my head :P

I don't get it though, why are there items THAT expensive, that aren't built from anything? You don't see any even Giant's Belt is kinda high, but it's excusable. The other two are just silly, they should build from Pick/Wand imo :/

i think it would be a good idea on some of the expensive items like deathcap, zyonas or infinity edge, or on the smaller ones like the rod you mentioned(1,6k gold is pretty much for an item just providing ap).

it might be confusing to beginners but they will learn how to handle the shop, like i did when i bought several shoes on my champs, when i was a lowlvl x)

Bad idea IMO. There's a reason some items have very expensive smaller parts. For example, Bloodthirster, on Talon. I usually don't rush it and I take some Doran's and a Brutalizer before getting BT, because I want to snowball, and getting a kill, recalling, and coming back onto the lane with no new items, is not what snowballing is. I take smaller items to snowball better while I can't yet afford my BT or its parts, but if I can just buy BT via cheap items, then why the hell would I not just rush a BT straight away every single time, if the items that make it are all gonna be helping me snowball too?

I just think it's fairer to decide between buying smaller items that will help you out in lane even though it delays your best items, or saving up to get those expensive items. If there's no disadvantage to rushing my best items, then snowballing just suddenly reached a whole new level.
