After looking into this thread I played Garen again.
And I have to admit, he is truly strong now. His Courage is really REALLY strong. I played him as a jungler for TONS of damage :P. But seriously his clearing speed is fenominal and his ganking potential is not too shabby either. I could see him doing this good on top too.

I will soon release a guide for this Garen-playstyle. I also found out a build that works even better, which replaces Frozen Mallet/ Warmog's Armor with Hexdrinker into later Maw of Malmortius.
He is gonna kill you!!!
Problem is you build damage and end up doing nothing because you die instantly in a teamfight, or you build tanky and still end up doing nothing due to having ****ty damage and scalings.

Foolish answer from someone never played Garen with the new Courage. His new Courage is a combination of a minor Olaf ult and a minor Alistar ult, 6 seconds active with a 12 seconds cooldown. As long as this is on, you are very hard to take down.
The main thing in playing LoL is to play a champion u love. Most champions are viable and ppl who under estimate them are fools.
Garen has a strong kit in his QWE and his ult is a finisher not the best finisher but its pretty good.
Play the champion u love or because having tons of champions u only like makes the game boring.
