Also... really? a Warmogs? that Morde has some learning to do...
That was my first though as well. "Oh look, a Morde rushing Warmog's? This will be easy". He also didn't have Ignite.
But then, after he bought it, I simply *could not* take him down, no matter how hard I tried. Thankfully, players who can pressure and farm as well as him on Mordekaiser are extremely rare. Actually this is the first time I've run into a Mordekaiser that wasn't mediocre/****.

By the way, Warmogs on Mordekaiser is a horrible idea. The reason for this is that he becomes a tank with no actual utility. He has no crowd control, which all good tanks have - he's not cut out to be a tank, and being offtank is the most efficient way to play him.
You might not be able to take him down, but once you kill his team because he's doing no damage and not slowing down anyone, he's one dead target. Throw all your **** on him as a team and he'll go down, albeit a bit slow, but he will.
It's all about adapting to item builds and prioritizing targets - if you think Mordekaiser who goes pure tank has anything on your team, you're way wrong. Pure tanks need CC to be useful - note Rammus, Galio, Udyr, Garen, Gragas, etc. They ALL have some sort of CC, while Mordekaiser... has nothing. Going pure tank makes him a walking piece of garbage that everyone will prioritize last.

Until he ults your AD carry or mage stacking AP and his team focuses them dead.

I play Morde. Smart teams won't lose their carry to a thing like that. They'll stun Morde, move onto the opposing carry, and reposition their own carry. Trust me, Warmogs Mordekaiser worse than non-sunfire tank Garen.
That's the best thing about playing offtank Morde; you're a threat enough to get focused, while the rest of your team has a chance to advance, and the opposing carry will be less likely to reposition themselves because their allies are engaging.
Just trust me on this... find me one Mordekaiser in mid or high ELO (at least 1600+) that builds Warmog's and I'll take back my statement.

Completely agree with you here, as I said before Morde has been one of my mains since way back when I started playing. Started playing him as "tank" but found it lackluster. Fooled around with different builds (had already tried warmogs, its a piece of **** on him, why have more health when you can grab some armor/magic resist and have it apply on your shield which you can keep up constantly?) dabbled in HP Regen morde before they nerfed Spirit Visage(alright with some armor/mr), AP Morde (****), and Sunfire Morde (this was loads of fun), before finally settling in on Magic Pen off tank Morde before his shift from magey tank to tanky mage.
You are completely correct, in his current iteration off tank is the way to go.

It costs too much to be effective; he'll end up being ONLY a tank. 3k gold early game is way too costly. Nand, really, just trust me on this, run Warmogs on Morde and people WILL flame you.
You'll be worthless in fights til you spend about 9k (including shoes) because pure health = you drop dead in an instant when focused anyway.
You don't HAVE to take my word for it, but as a Morde player who wins 95% of normal solo queue and won one ranked with 18/3/12, I believe I have some weight on this matter. I played with a Warmog's Morde, he went 0/7/3. Morde's not hard to play, but if you **** up his item build, you're going to be useless and you'll be making your team go into a 4v5.
I'm done trying to save any Mordekaisers who believe Warmog's is good on Morde. This will be my final post about Warmogs Mordekaiser.

Rushing Warmog's is stupid, but getting after some key-items can actually be viable.
Why? Oh believe me, I could eloborate on the subject but let's just say that it takes him one step closer to immortality (although that is impossible). You see with the past Shield nerfs Warmog's Armor became a necessity, but now that they are back up again I don't see much of a reason anymore.
Force of Nature, Sorcerer's Shoes, Sunfire, some random items and you're good. The rest depends on your actions, and sadly; your team.

The old decay rate meant he had to keep spamming his skills, ALL THE TIME. You know what this means? The lane is pushed.
You know what that means? Enemy jungle/mid has a HELLA easier time to GANK - and Morde is SQUISHY AS HELL early game.
You know what it also means? YOUR jungle/mid has a HELLA hard time ganking - it's almost impossible to gank if Morde is trying to avoid being harassed by keeping his shield up.
Good balance this patch, imo. 3% is reasonable. If it were 0% decay, then yeah, you might have some problems, but you have to realize that keeping his shield up is just asking for him to get ganked. It's your team's fault if they don't take advantage of this.
