Mid Rengar?

I've play around and had success as mid, as well as (Still need to try ).

Now my next question is; Is a viable mid? (AD , or Assassin )

I know he recently got a pretty hard nerf, but what do you guys think of his viability mid as an anti-caster, or his viability in generally in his current state?

The joy of playing (for me atleast) is jumping from your bush and zoning them from in your bush. However, mid lane doesn't provide some of the things he needs to be most useful. He is viable just more optimal to be played top or jungle.
As for , I have a friend who plays him mid and completely roflstomps everyone he lanes against 1500 elo +

mid takes the bushes away from rengar because they're so far off to the side, so it's not as fun XD.

Well OTG is 1300 if 1500 players can roflstomp with it. Most likely he'll also find success with it.

@psi: they probable do; but who cares? Everyone will agree that is about a million times better in mid than . His argument was that something is good because it roflstomps at 1500 and I'm just illustrating that that is a terrible argument.

Other thing you probably noticed about the popular AD mids is that they all have forms of reliable gap closers which rengar doesn't.

@GrandmasterD What I meant was, he's 1500 yet he can still win mid lane using . I didn't mean he was a 2900 playing against 1500s....

Rengar is one of the champs most prone to kiting (without ult or passive) so nah.
Furthermore picking a champ mid isn't just for the lane dominance. Still have to factor in transitions, range poke, dragon control, etc.

I roflstomp everything at 1500 elo with about everything. Even Taric mid. Doesn't mean it's strong or viable.
Rengar isn't a mid, he gets screwed over by long range harass.

You max on Talon. ;) It does more damage, and it's ranged. But if you're against a meelee mid, maxing Q is also viable for lowering the CD, as it becomes possible to harass with Q. I'd still max W though.

Well, this AD mid stuff is entirely new territory for me, that's why I'm asking about it. Honestly, the only mid I ever play is usually ; as many people on this site know. :p

On Talon I would advise maxing it helps a lot with harass. btw can I ask you what your elo is?

Yea, that's what I've heard. Maxing 's Q also helped for that reason.

Yeah, you generally wanna put emphasis on your spikes as I feel they help a lot when poking down the enemy mid. Because most AP Mids are ranged.

My answer about Rengar on MID, he is my favourite charecter, i used to be in MID but Rengar isn't good for solo playing. He isn't fast, he is powerful but cant play 1VS1.

Obligatory answer to OTG's question because I was mentioned.

Release Rengar was a good mid with that 1:1 ratio on W.

I think it'd still be decent because Bola harass is stupid and if you ever get close to them you'd nuke them pretty hard with QQ.

Also keep in mind he was nerfed pretty hard, so I don't know how viable it really is now.

If the mid laner has any form of cc he is not going to get anywhere close to the other mid without the assistance of the jungler. However, his sustain is infinite if is maxed, and his wave clear is fast. This allows him to have great roam potential once he hits lvl 6. Other than that, doesn't have all that much kill potential in the mid lane alone unless the enemy doesn't have any form of reliable crowd control.

As Asian said, brush is core to Rengar's gameplay. The brush on the sides of mid-lane won't reach minions or your enemy. You're literally left with nothing except poking with E until level 6 when you FINALLY have a gap-closer.

Kha'Zix on the other hand, is a great mid-laner, and by taking Q and E it's entirely possible to get a first blood at level 2, if you strike while your enemy is still level 1.

He is also an extremely good counter-jungler, and he can counter-jungle better if he's mid than if he were actually jungling, because the level advantage on will obliterate the enemy jungler. I've been playing Kha'Zix mid a lot recently, and it's been extremely common for me to waltz into the enemy jungle and 1-shot their jungler. It's even become routine for me to go to their red at a certain point and just kill their jungler for double buff. ( Which makes it extremely easy to kill the enemy mid if you haven't done so already )

At the moment, Kha'Zix is my favourite mid due to how totally in control you feel over the enemy mid and jungle, and I fully recommend you to try it.

Rengar Isn't reallly viable mid.
In fact, if you want to farm a lot he might be the right person, but until level 6 he has no gap closers and is a melee champion.

Mid lane doesn't provide bushes for you to leap from, (yes, there are 2, but they are too far for you to take advantage and hide there jumping on minions like you do on top lane).

You can poke with your E, but it will cost a lot mid game, when you have your E maxed out, but all your damage and tankyness still waiting.
And in case your jungler comes ganking before you are level 6, he MUST have forms of CC, or else you won't be able to get close.
Just take rengar top, jungle he isn't viable and mid there are a lot better picks for AD mids
