:O
Neat!
So it's how many upvotes/total votes. Interesting.

That's not how we calculate scores; you can see that the Orianna guide with 6/6 votes is still only at around 75%. MOBAFire ratings are calculated using a Bayesian average, which has long and complicated math behind it.

@Darcurse: Forcing comments w/votes 100% of the time would make people vote less and they would also vote less truthfully. And how is an upvote with just "thanks" any better than a downvote with "bad"? The reason why there are guides like LaCorpse's Ahri guide floating at the top is because it has has accumulated a billion votes. There are likely people who use her graphics shop and went to upvote her guides too. Stuff like vote decay assists in getting those guides off the top spot. Stuff like forcing users to have 50 posts doesn't.

Can't really see your point.
I also think that guides would get less votes that way, simply because IMO a bigger chunk of the troll and unreasonable up- and downvotes would miss.
And for those who would still vote with 100% of time comments and only write stuff like "thanks/bad"... well they would vote anyway, you can't shut them down with such small changes I suggested.

But I dunno how you come to that "less truthfully" result and where you think I ever wrote that upvotes with nonsense comments are better than downvotes with those...? Both are equally annoying.

I do see that even with the example changes I mentioned, the current bad top guides would still be there, but I ONLY MENTIONED SOME EXAMPLE CHANGES, addressing some of the problems.
Dunno if you guys thought that I believe to solve the whole problem with some minor additions to the system....?

The fact that less votes and less truthful votes would come out of forced C2V is common sense about how the internet works. This might like, blow your mind, but it has been proven repeatedly that people behave differently when their psychological perceived veil of internet anonymity is taken away.

E.g.: 4chan, New York Times website comments (when the New York Times turned registration off and allowed people to comment anonymously, the quality of the discussions actually went up), Reddit throwaway accounts.

Maybe allow for an option to reply anonymously? That way, you could force people to answer with opinions, but not have a member hated for their views.

I still say the best alternative is to reset votes every 3rd month, find a way to equally expose guides and maybe overexpose some with scout-votes, and let the system be WAY more dynamic!

I'm sure this is already being looked into, but the main issue with mobafire is republishing outdated guides just to keep them on the top. This has been discussed at great length, but no solutions yet. If the top guide has something like 700 votes there is no way to "decrown" it and that kills motivation to even write a new guide.

@astrolia

I definitely do understand the fact that there would be less votes (I even COUNT on it), but "truthful" is a term you can use for politics or stuff that is only different in terms of personal taste.

Where do you expect ppl won't be truhtful while commenting guides?
Do you think that hundreths will simply upvote guides to gain sympathy?

Ppl who don't comment on their votes in the first place, can't be in any way less truthful if they suddenly need to.

Read my post again, a few times. Please.
And for every reset you can have a point or star if you came over a certain % or a top position. A star or point or something?

Oh please. People are more truthful when they don't have to give their name/etc. I even gave you 3 examples (Reddit, 4chan, NYTimes). How is anything you said supposed to convince me or anyone else that anonymity on the internet doesn't work like that?

Wow... Never thought I would see the day when someone said 4chan was a good role model for something... ANYTHING on the internet... Need I remind you that the best compliment you can receive on that website after a post is "Dear diary, today OP wasn't a ******..." Although I have to say that the "Tard threads" and "You Raugh You Roose" are some of the funnies things you can find on the internets.
