The new Gragas rework pretty much means I have to redo A LOT of this guide. I'm going to temporarily Archive it while I overhaul it. It should be republished soon and I hope you guys will find it helpful.

The new Gragas is great Top / Jungle and can still be played Mid but he isn't the same champion he was before. His match ups have changed, his team composition synergies have changed, everything is different. My ranked team is still running Gragas Mid when we play Yasuo Jungle because of the knock up synergy and the fact that our Jungler is basically a melee carry to help us scale into the late game when my damage falls off due to the nerfed AP Ratios. There are a couple situations like this that keep Mid Gragas in viability, but as this is a comprehensive guide I still have a great opportunity to update the rest of the information.

Thanks for your patience guys I'm sorry for being behind on this!

You mean If he update this guide. By reworking gragas, about at least half the information on this guide is old news if not junk. I'm not trying to insult the guy, infact I actually like this guide a lot, it's just that now Haedrix will have to completely change this guide. I hate to admit it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he abandoned this guide. I just hope I'm wrong and he does update this.

I kinda like the rework, to be honest. I mean, I don't think new Grag is as viable in the mid lane now, but the added CC and the massive %health damage from drunken rage make him more viable in the jungle and top lane. To tell the truth, I thought I was going to hate the new Drunken Rage, but its damage output is insane, especially if you add to it with the Lich Bane proc.

The barrels are much less potent now, but that was the intention. Long range poke was never what Grag was meant to do. The delay on max damage is disappointing, but it emphasizes effective use of Body Slam, which I feel was the whole point.

Basically, I don't think it's so much a nerf as it is a shift in playstyle. Gragas will likely be played in other lanes, where the %health damage from his W will make him very effective vs top lane tanks, or where his combined CC from an effective Q E combo will make his ganks damn near impossible to escape.

All that said, I'm interested to hear Haedrix's thoughts on it all, seeing as he wrote the guide that pretty much taught me how to play Gragas in the first place xP

I feel this rework kind a nerf Gragas in most areas, instead of buffedhim. Riot made Gragas barrels(both Barrel roll and Exploding cask)scale a little less in late game then before and his barrel roll has a shorter range. Now the longer the barrel stay out, the more damage it does. The barrel increase damage up to 150% max if left laying out for 2 seconds, but by then the enemy champion would have steered clear by then, so you will find yourself using the max 150% boost mostly on clearing waves or cs. I don't like how his barrels now have a circle showing BOTH allies and enemies on the radios of the barrel. Now all the enemies know where the blast will hit, so all they have to do it walk outside the circle to take no damage. Gragas passive now heals 4% instead of 2% and now it's instant, which is good. His passive now have a cd though, so you still have to space out you spells and stuff. I am not too sure how I feel about his new Drunken rage, so I can say much right now. I am ok about the fact that his Body slam does a stun now instead of a slow. Now the REAL problem that I feel that he is nerf more then buffed is the fact that his spells don't scale that well with AP anymore(except Body slam, since they made it scale a little more with AP, but took away the AD scaling). So in other words, Riot basically cut 1/3 of the AP scaling for 2 of his spells, and slapped some more CC on him to make it not look too much like a complete nerf.

Really good guide, i looked at it when i first tried Gragas and my 2 first times i won the lane and kinda carried the game (My bot lanes almost lost both times)

The third time i lost but because i was vs a Nidalee and a Tryndamere jung babysitting her all the time xP (And still i got the first tower down)

The only thing is that i don't have the runes, but still very helpful.
