Blogs have the potential to be EXTREMELY interesting and a wonderful source of information and creativity from the moba community. In its current form, the blogs are a festering cesspool of ****. Don't believe me? Click the 'all blogs' button. I dare you.

What constitutes a ****ty blog? Here are some examples:

-**** that could be addressed on the forums. I personally am guilty of this one. If you can ask a question or bring up a topic that would be better suited on the forums, then do so. This includes:
1. general questions: question that belongs on the forum
2. announcing guides (that nobody cares about, i'm guilty as charged, although I think people anticipate my guides somewhat)
3. Introductions (belongs on the forum)
4. Much, MUCH more! introductions/matchmaking
-One sentence blog posts. 0 effort, 0 content, 100% ********. example: bad blog post #1 bad blog post #2

I think blogs can be salvaged, and could actually be reworked into something that people come specifically to moba for. There are many blogs here that I actually look forward to. I read OTG's, I read darkpercy's (great lolmaths, by the way), I read tinystar, I read more of your blogs than you would know. I have a solution to correct this throwaway aspect of the community in a step by step process;

Step 1: Stop the uploading of blogs, temporarily.
Step 2: Create a system that allows people to apply to become a blogger. One of the main criteria for becoming a blogger is committing to upload consistent and relevant content. I, for example, would apply to write a 'tier list' and 'general league discussion' blog as I have been doing. Tinystar would apply for 'political commentary', or whatever, darkpercy lolmath and league discussion. It doesn't necessarily matter what they apply for as long as they promise to keep it relevant and consistent to their blog theme. This will reflect blogs in the real world. Most peoples' blogs are about one aspect in particular, whether it be about their personal life, gaming, politics, etc.
Step 3: Create a new page that allows permitted bloggers to create a 'personality profile' and maybe upload a picture.
Step 4: When people click on all blogs, it will bring up the 'personality profile' and 'blog description' and maybe the picture. People can scroll through the bloggers, click on their profile, and it will bring up their blogs chronologically.
Step 5: rinse, repeat. Only approved bloggers may post blogs.

The way blogs are now, it's oversaturated with garbage and **** nobody cares about. I'm sorry, I don't care that some nobody is halfway through with their ezreal guide and they want to pat themselves on the back via blog post. I think that my proposed blog system would create sizeable traffic and would make blogs somewhat rival the guides, if the blogs themselves were interesting enough, which I think they would be.

What are your thoughts on the current state of blogs?

Well, a lot of people do not care for blogs, probably because most of the blogs are **** anyway.

But I do think that personal blogs are useful (I use them a lot :P) so people know what I am up to, why I am not doing stuff, what I plan to do etc.
I just like it to announce things if I feel like I have to announce.
A blog is something more personal, people will pretty much only read your blog if they have any interest in you, whether it be that they already know you, or that they want to get knowing you :D
So no, I disagree with the concept of a special "blogger" type of rank.

But one thing is I really agree on, the shorter blogs, which are more like facebook posts than blogs. They are nothing but pagefillers. I think blogs should have a minimal amount of words, like 100 or 200 or something, reducing the amount of **** blogs by a lot :P

Shouldn't blogs be open to everyone? I think it would be pretty harsh if you'd stop people from writing their stuff about the game. Perhaps a good way is to have a set of featured bloggers, just as you have featured guides.
And yes, I admit that there's a lot of trash blogs out there, but disallowing people to post blogs just is no solution imo.

No. Blogs should not be open to everyone because not everyone is interesting or smart enough to write a worthwhile blog post. And most people don't understand when to use blogs and when to use forums. Nobody really reads blogs anyways. Most blogs fade into obscurity with less that 50 views, sometimes less than 10. Mostly because when blogs are off the front page, they're gone for good because they get buried by ****.

In its current state, blogs are **** and nobody cares or reads them. My proposal would make them much more visible, trafficked, and interesting.

The same discussion could be applied to guides. About 70% (if not more) of the newly released guides is trash, utterly useless trash. Why would you disable blogs for some people and not guides? I don't even read the blogs on the front page myself, I only read them when I stumble upon some player's profiles.

If they would just use a "Blogs require this amount of words to get the front page"-system, it would already improve a lot.

I think that would be enough honestly

I agree! Perhaps add some sort of 'featured blogs' system so you can always filter the best blogs from all the others and there shouldn't be a real problem at all.

But then I would have to spam "TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM TSM" several pages instead of only two lines!

Who judges which are the best blogs? upvote downvote blog posts? No thank you.

Limiting the amount of words is a great start, but I think it's more of a content issue instead of an issue about how substantial they are. Anyone that can write 15 words of ******** can probably write 200 words of ********, and it will be 15 times more painful.
