How do you feel about dividing tournaments based on tier?

^ lighten up throat. I actually think the majority of your posts are educated and useful...it is your delivery that is killing you. you and lasty and lagger...etc. the calmer you stay and the more educated you sound/come off as the more likely your ideas will get to them.

i also like the idea of a post requirement...but implementing it may be tricky and setting the boundaries of what the specific requirements are, again would be tricky. and yes that is a solid point...it should grow the community which is ultimately good for everyone, no?

again anything that can keep a 'community' cup to remain in that community is probably a good move.

i think that divided tournaments are normally a good idea, because players with lower skill level would get stomped. however, in my opinion it is different in this case, since mobafire is about getting better at lol. i personally get better if i set high goals(= getting as good as diamond/challenger players). and what can be better to reach than to play against players this good(aside playing with the "diamonds")?

also, most people here on mobafire would get stomped by plat players, not only by challengers or diamonds. (to be fair, i would prohably get owned hard by golds :D)
I AM NOT AFFECTED BY ELOHELL. NOOBS AND TROLLS NEVER RUIN MY RANKED GAMES.
I DON'T GET STUCK AND I NEVER GET ONLY 2LP FOR A WIN.

I AM UNRANKED.

what about trying divided for one tournament btw? i would suggest plat and above as one and the rest as annother tournament, so that there are enough players in the "good" tournament.

You don't fix the problem by dividing the tournaments.

Wherever you set the divide the best teams in each group are going to place. Just ban challenger kids and make a team post count.

You don't understand. All these mods do is rip my ideas off, give me no credit, and then **** everything up because they don't implement my solutions. When I propose a fix, they always rip off about half of my solution and fill in the rest, usually making the fix 10x worse than the original problem. Give the blogs 2 months. They'll be 10x WORSE than what they were 2 weeks ago. They ignored most of my solution and because of it I can give you a step by step on how blogs will backslide into ****.

I really can't believe how LUDICROUS mowens proposal is. Moon is right, and I'm really just fed up with the mods ripping me off, giving me no credit, and then making it worse than it was before. Oh, and they also add a ****load more workload to themselves. Now they have to monitor blogs and make sure they stay on topic.

Back on topic, this problem has a hundred solutions but only one correct solution. Since I have ZERO faith in the mods and Matt to problem solve, they will **** this up like everything else I propose. Frustrating to watch a site you enjoy borrow your gun, blow their toes off, and not even have the decency to return the gun they borrowed.

If only they could just make you a mod or bring you into their brainstorming sessions. HINT HINT HINT.

Back on topic: If a team of under 30's signs up for a tournament with expectations beyond a fun 2 games and a good learning experience they are deluding themselves. Under lvl 30 you don't really pose a challenge for even decent players as you don't have the experience/runes/masteries to compete. Don't pander to them, actually fix a problem that is solvable.

No, creating those requirements is actually really easy. A dozen posts or a guide creation/update in the month before the tournament for EUW tournaments (which are happening at the start of the month) or in the current month for NA tournaments (which are happening towards the end of the month) ensures reasonable and continuing activity and is easy to test for.

There should be now post requirements if a team has all silver players or below. That way if they smurf on silver accounts and they roll the tournaments it will be easy to spot the cheaters.

Yes, absolutely, any requirements should be evenly applied to all participants. Yes, absolutely, smurfing isn't something that should be allowed. And yes, absolutely, this solution does a lot to prevent smurfing and ensures that only community members will be in the tournament. Preventing smurfing is clearly desirable, I'm just not sure that preventing non-community members from participating is actually what Mowen et al want.

You dont have to exclude non-members. You make a post count PER team. Not an individual post count.

If you set it at say 500 my team would be allowed to play because Throatslasher and I are active enough to bring the rest of our team to the tournament. It would stop a bunch of Diamond 1 kids just entering for the prizes though. You still ban challenger teams/kids though no matter what. They have no place in an amateur tournament.

Yeah, a per team count is fine, honestly. I prefer the idea of a smaller requirement for the past month, though, because it's easier for people to achieve for their first tournament and forces them to keep posting if they want to keep playing in the tournaments.

As for restricting Challenger players, I worry that banning them from the tournament isn't going to help us attract any Challenger players to actually contribute to MOBAFire. I understand that letting them in is basically giving them a free win, which is why I suggested removing the prizes from the tournament (just offering the money and stickers) to discourage them from coming just for the prizes. It won't happen, as Mowen's post suggests, though, so whatever.

Also, throat, I can see why this is really frustrating for you. Just remember that you are actually helping to make MOBAFire a better place; even if other people are screwing everything up, at least progress is being made.
