Screws with your overall burst and counters nothing. The AD is low and the AS vitually wasted. The active is meh early, you need raw damage.
I see most Zed's rush BotRK, and it does sound good in theory; your ultimate scales with your auto-attacks, and BotRK's active + passive will also make your ultimate do more damage, then there's also the tiny AD to help your AD ratio. I dunno, I think I'd still prefer Bloodthirster ( or in my case, Hydra ) to BotRK, but I don't hate on people for rushing BotRK because I haven't done the maths to which is stronger. Also I was rushing RoA as any good Swain should, so he did have reason to want % damage. ( Not that he even tried to get near me in team-fights, I was fkin Swain )

Brutalizer then into BT or LW (or the other way around when fighting players with an armour fetish) makes you deal way more damage than getting BotRK. Sure, you can get it later in the game when you feel that you need the slow or when they have massive HP but that's later. Rushing it outright screws your damage.

The Jax game made me want to cry. I picked Jax into Jayce and felt like I would do well vs him. But our jungle Kha did a smiteless blue after wolves, went straight to red, then ganked top at level 3 at about 3 minutes in. At one point when I hit 6 I went all in on him, but like the moment I popped my ult to attack him our Lux started pinging me back to warn me Diana was ganking, but there was no way I would have been able to kill Jayce without my ult, so I kept on attacking and killed him, though died to Diana, giving him gold and XP anyway. And then after that he was just too strong for me to handle.
At one point I ganked mid while Diana had 200 HP, and I flash + jumped on her and was about to kill her, I'd ignited her and everything, when suddenly Kha'Zix jumps in and steals the kill with his jump, so I was still behind. I felt like afk'ing when Jayce nearly 100-0'd me, but my team wasn't doing well either, so I hung in there for a few more minutes and we surrendered.
In the Swain game I locked Swain into Fizz, much to someone on my team's dismay, who called me a ****** saying "fizz ***** on swain" and asking why people at his Elo were this bad, etc. I scored first blood on Fizz at level 4 and kept on zoning him. At about 7 minutes I pointed out how Fizz had 8 farm, and that their Alistar nearly had as much farm as him. I basically just kept abusing Swain's power whenever I got ganked / whenever Fizz got too close to pick up kills here and there, and ended up getting fed and carrying.
According to LoLking Swain is my top champ right now. Think I have to agree. :3

should have played vrs A good Dominion Jayce on Bottom lane,you kill those bastards 4 times in a row and after a point they still 1-shot as fast as you while you play Talon >>
I haven't 100-0'd a bruiser as Talon since Week of Cleavers. >_>
And it wasn't the fact that he was 100-0'ing me that was making me mad, it was the fact that our Kha'Zix had been the one to snowball the lane so heavily in Jayce's favour without me being able to do anything about it, and then just abandoned me to deal with his advantage on my own.

...except he wasn't Bruiser he was a Carry who somehow managed to 1-shot me as Fast as me 1 shoting him
How the **** do you NOT hypercarry as Swain? I could have 1v3'd without breaking a sweat, and I could have said the same for most of the other games. In team-fights I usually just walk through their team giving no ****s and kill their ADC while melting 2 others of their team at the same time. Zhonya's if I get too low and continue melting, sustain half my HP back and GG.
Why is Swain currently unpopular / regarded as a bad pick?

The idea is quite simple: the active can be used during his ultimate and the attack speed will allow him to get 1 or 2 more attacks in, too. Other than that it is of course a good item to shred some of the tankier opponents on the enemy team.
I'd say it's more situational now, but that is why it was/is strong.
