Hey guys,

Curious about everyone's opinion of Pantheon right now. I know that most people think he is at his best in the mid lane. Does he work top lane? Or in the jungle? And is he worth picking up/playing? Has anyone here had any success playing pantheon in ranked? Thanks!

^ agreed. I mean..I wouldn't take mantheon support to gold II but it does work in a kill lane. saw swain support once too...actually worked ok. going to try it a bit myself

yes indeed the consensus is that he works best mid....he can do well top in the right hands and against the right champs.

I don't see him successful in the high elo streams but I think he is hella fun to have on your team when someone knows how to use him.

if you get him and play him though...you need to be extra manly...its a must.

Yeah he can work top and jungle if you know what you're doing.

Top - He's squishier than most top champions, so you usually have to build pretty tanky and only take 2 offensive items. For example, Black Cleaver Rush followed by Randuin's, Warmog's. Then a Last Whisper, before rounding out the build with situational defense items. Also, I'd take teleport so that you can make plays in bot and mid and return to top quickly so that your lane opponent doesn't get a free tower.

Jungle - He's not the fastest jungle clearer, but he can avoid wards with his ult. Otherwise, you could prolly go madreds, black cleaver, locket. And I guess you'd follow a top lane build cuz it's prolly better for the teamcomp for you to be able to absorb damage. I dunno, I don't jungle with Pant, just theorizing.

Pantheon is pretty darn useless in the jungle, gets outclassed easily. Especially since Heartseeker Strike deals partial damage to minions/monsters. I wouldn't recommend him solo top either since he really isn't that effective as a bruiser compared to a lot of people. Rushing a Black Cleaver is terrible no matter what lane your in, you will do zero damage. Also Teleport is a sad waste to have to take since Flash is 100% needed as an escape and Ignite is amazing for early kill power with your combo. Basically you want to play him mid as an assassin, with probably only one defensive item like a Warmogs/GA, and maybe like a Mercurial Scimitar after your "Holy Trinity" as Vapora puts it (BT, LW, and BC).

A +rep is always nice, and if I helped you out, do give one (or more) of my guides a read! Feedback is very welcome, and if you liked them give them a vote!

I have seen Voyboy do top lane pantheon to quite a success before. I wasn't watching the build that closely though.

Oh sure it CAN be succesful, especially with Voyboy playing, its just not the optimal choice...at all.

Indeed, top is not Pant's ideal position, but he can hold his own. BC rush doesn't make it so that he does "no damage". He'll still do damage, just not in high bursts like a mid Pant building BT, which is okay since his role is as a bruiser when he's in top.

I suggested teleport because his ult is essentially wasted in top lane during the laning phase. The reason why Pantheon can be so deadly in mid is because of his ult's near global presence during the laning phase. If you go top, you cut his presence in half since his range is limited to ganking mid. And if you do actually gank bot after basing, you're almost certain to lose your top tower unless your jungler is covering for you, which is never a certainty. So, taking teleport allows Pant global presence, gives him the ability to get kills in other lanes besides top, and enables him to protect his tower, all at the same time.
