I hate
Teemo because he is the hardest counter to my beloved

In all honesty though, I disagree with
Teemo being a strong champion.
His kit is designed to simply be annoying to deal with, just buy an oracles and out farm him.
He only wins fights on his won terms, if you force him to fight you he is much weaker than if you chase after him..
Also, in late game
Teemo should just split push. Since he builds attack speed and can be protected by his own shrooms he is insanely annoying to deal with. Plus, he sucks in teamfights since he gets like 2 shot and has a passive global taunt.
People hate
Teemo because new players and players who aren't very good love him.

Teemo's and while I do hate him, he is somewhat viable as a counter pick to several champions. But that is about it.

and what josh said also explains why your 'passive jack in the box runaans' won't work...two shoted dead. even if you blind the most damage causing player a good group will destroy you. IF you are building runaans (much more effective and cost efficient items) better off just using it to split push.

This thread isn't so much about how to play him, it's more of how I play him, and it's worked out quite well for me. It will also tell you how to play him as I do. (Thus me speaking to you later in the thread)

It gives him insane damage, and if you choose to build the Liandry's Torment as the last item, his burn will score you kill upon kill.
Now, a short list of pro's and con's:
PROS:
Insanely high damage
Can burst down most champions
His passive allows for easy ganks and assassinations
With Runaan's and some speed items, he is extremely effective at farming
His poison can take down champions long after your confrontations
Mushrooms will score you random kills
His burst of speed is a built in escape mechanic
CONS:
Extremely squishy
Focused in every team fight
Very susceptible to CC
Has no CC of his own except for Noxious Trap
How I play:
EARLY GAME, TOP LANE:
Teemo is squishy. It's a fact. This makes him extremely susceptible to ganks in the beginning bits of the game. I play him extremely cautiously in the beginning, only farming minions on my half of the lane. Farming near the river is dangerous, especially if their jungler is even moderately competent.
For the most part, I let the opponent push a bit, and hit them with blinding dart every once in while.
Keep an eye on your mana during this time, because if you run out, your poking will be severely impacted.
He has no significant built in mana regen, and my particular item build has none.
MID GAME, TOP LANE:
Things are starting to warm up. Some kills have been scored, and your opponents are getting more cocky. Everyone has their abilities. Everyone can kill. Here is your time to survive and gank in your own lane.
Place Noxious Traps in the bushes and the entrance to the river. These mushrooms act as wards, wards that
can foil a gank before it begins. In extreme cases, (You've been fed or your opponent is an idiot) your Shrooms can set you up for a kill unwittingly. Place mushrooms in each end of each bush. The opponent will run through the bush, hitting a Shroom. They will continue to run, hoping to get rid of the effects and outrun your deadly darts. Then, they will hit another one, receiving more damage and being slowed. This entire time you have been slaughtering them with your darts, and lo and behold, you have a kill.
LATE GAME, NO LANE:
Late game is not lane by lane so much as team battles. Unfortunately, this is not Teemo's forte. He is exceedingly squishy and is always focused. However, if you have Runaan's Hurricane, you can do something I like to call 'Jack in the Box'. Stay stealthed wherever you think the team battle is going to take place. Stay until the battle erupts at your spot. Thunk down a mushroom and burst people with your three projectiles. Use your blinding dart on the opponent that can do the most damage from basic attacks to you. This will prevent him/her from doing too much damage with his/her basics as the blind will make them miss most of the time.
This is the barebones version of my thread. I will update with more lanes and strategies if people like this.
