Yes, that is the thing that made LOTR so awesome back in the 50's. It was something new. Someone actually put up hard work to make a book with really long and good lore and with so many little details. The story might be complicated and even "boring" at some points but the feeling it gives to the reader is just amazing. I mean, you can almost like imagine yourself as an elf because of the very detailed description.
Yes, there might be some unnecessary details (about the rock of Helm's Deep for example; 1,5 pages about the rock it is made of) and the battles are like half of page. Then again, writing a long detailed text about battle would've been kinda stupid since the series and J.R.R. Tolkien's work itself work around the lore so well whilst the battles would've been mediocre because you can't really explain a long fight without being boring after a page or two. In movies it's quite a different because there you can let the person feel like he was living in it.

@IShouldGetALife It still isn't an easy thing to make up something from nowhere. He worked on the languages from WWI to his death and still he says in his notes that he wasn't happy with them. He did a lot of work only because he wasn't happy with things that others were amazed by.
The actual LOTR series is good but there are so many editions of it that the story isn't the same as it was back in 1954. There are a lot of changes made by J.R.R. Tolkien which made the story at least a little bit different. I do understand though that some people like battle scenes in movies and in books but I like the lore and dialogue more :3 (Epic battle scene in Twilight is OP)
TL;DR He did a hard work and worked from the WWI until he died.
Let's hope you didn't read it in English, seeing how broken yours is..
All I see is a straw man argument.
Your newest comment is actually relevant, but the broken English is still as bad as ever..
I recommend that you learn better English so that your points will come across better.

Yea, youngsters these days..
"I saw [Twilight: Eclipse] in theaters with a girl I was dating at the time. I spent more time staring at my toes and wiggling them than I did watching this abomination. When Edward proposed to Blank Face, I finally looked up with a revelation.
I blurted out loud, in a dead silent theater full of teenage girls on opening night "Wait a minute, Edward has no blood flow. How does he get an erection?" I heard several men laughing, and had several girls turn and stare at me.
I did not get laid that night." - Berengier817
