A smart opponent will check your items before they go all in on you in a majority of cases. This removes the main surprise factor of the red pot which catches so many pleayers off guard.
Personally, the first step is to bait out the red pot by forcing a trade then backing off, knowing that you shouldn't over commit to the fight.
After that, just wait out the duration of the red pot while you play a bit more cautiously. After their red pot times out you can force fights on them and force them out of lane.If theyleave before the red pot expires that should give you a free wave of farm over your opponent wich could ultimately win you the entire lane.

The downside to the red pot isn't the first couple of minutes, it is after you return on your first back. If you managed to pick up a kill it paid off and you can get an advantage in lane, however, if you don't get a kill you will then comeback to lane you will be at a disadvantage.
Lets say, your opponent (with their Doran's Blade, farmed the same as you and you both come back to lane with an extra Pickaxe to your starting build. Presuming you started with red pot and your opponent started Doran's Blade then you will be weaker than your opponent and won't have the same level of sustain.

Tl;dr Starting Red pot is a hit or miss, if you don't get an early kill you are at a disadvantage.

Mundo goes where he pleases.

And pleases, where he goes.

Was there something that I said in my post that was silly enough to get ignored? If there was I would appreciate if someone could explain to me what it was ,because any topic related to ADC stuff is kinda important to me.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Heal is gay and is easy to counter so I never take it. It might be decent on supports in some situations, but for ADCs there are way better options. Cleanse is never useless on ADC since your main job is to keep auto attacking. Exhaust pretty much shuts you down for 2.5 seconds if you don't have it. Cleanse also removes ignite(although I believe heal reduction part remains). It's really good but I still run barrier more often lol. :P

Hm... Interesting debate about Cleanse vs Barrier. Honestly, nowadays I take either Flash/Barrier or Flash/Cleanse, depends on how I'm going to play/which ADC I chose. If I take Caitlyn, probably Barrier because she's less likely (although not completely) to get any kind of CC/Ignite on her. If I take... hm, probably Quinn, Cleanse without a doubt. But I guess it depends on how you like to play, pretty much like everything else in the game.

Barrier is often stronger defensively in lane, and redpot is a risk: if you lose it, you pretty much fall behind a kill. Besides that, you're relying on your support as well so you don't know how it will go.
