The new chapters of Naruto, especially the war, kinda suck. It's more like a huge pile of fanservice than a real war. There was one chapter especially for Shikamaru and a lot of other sidechars just pawning some low level biests and in the next chapter they're were totally gone. The Kage are also just there to praise Naruto and Sasuke, well at least the First Hokage is doing something.
I liked the beginning of Shippuden with Deidara, Pain and so on but now it's gotten meh.
Maybe I'm sounding a bit too harsh, but well...

Naruto has just devolved into whomever hits the other guy with the largest stick. I.e: it has become Dragonball.
Sittin' on chimneys, putting fire up my ***.

I am working on a blog post called Dragon ball syndrome, and how it effects other manga's. It should be up sometime next week :)
but unfortunately as much as I am enjoying the war this is what it has turned into, also why on earth would any of the other ninja nations want to be friends with the leaf after all the **** their rouge ninja's have caused.
I would be really pissed if during the war I over heard a bunch of leaf village kids talking about becoming Hokage, it's like dude do you have any idea how many ninja's have died over your ****.
Just a few thoughts.

Those are incredibly minor problems compared to other problems in the series..

"I also am Otherkin. Whenever autumn rolls around I can feel my kin-type slowly taking over my body. You must know, I identify as pumpkin. I can control it pretty good most of the time, but when September ends, I just cant hold it in anymore. Whenever Im outside I see my brothers and sisters being chopped into soup, coffee, donuts, cake, drinks, bread - ppl even cut human faces into their skin, making a mockery out of their noble appearance. When I see things like that I cant control my pumpkin urges anymore. My natural instincts kick in. I then sit down motionless, while getting bright orange." - Morgana L

I finished watching Serial Experiments Lain.
First of all, this anime is different than your typical 13 Episode anime. It's definitely something original to a certain extent.
I won't say anything about the art, because It was released on 1998. Therefore comparing it with modern anime art-wise is nonsense. But I would say that the art is similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion's Art.
In fact, it shares a lot of similarities with NGE. Not only concerning the art, but also the psychological / mysterious side of it, even those "dementia" moments in NGE (even though they are less common).
Now concerning the plot/story:
My brain fried. There's no other way to express how confused I was while watching SEL. It got to a point where the anime just made me feel dumb. I have like 10+ unanswered questions so far lol.
You see, nothing is ever explicitly explained in the anime. You have to set ***uptions/conclusions/theories on what's happening by yourself. At first it seems amusing, but then you just can't keep up. Like around the last 3 episodes, I was totally lost.
What I am at least sure of, is that people's interpretation of this anime will be different from one another. And this is what interested me.
I don't know if I can recommend it especially when I didn't fully get the grasp of it. Like, I'm starting to get an idea of what happened after I quickly ran over the main events.
What I can say though, is that it's very clever. If there's an anime that you could describe as "smart*** anime", that would be Serial Experiments Lain.
TL,DR: Watch it if you are into clever plots, complex thinking, mystery, and psychology. It's definitely not bad, I personally enjoyed it. I liked it. I'm just still very confused.
Still figuring out what I'll be watching next.

I mean ****ing Naruto is better then Toriko and Naruto as a manga is just hitting "good" on the meter, the anime is still ********.
I have been reading the Naruto Manga for years now and I own most of the volumes, even one of the japenese ones volume 37, Just cause I think it was cooler to see Shikamaru blow someone up with a cigarette because Viz changed changed the US release to show a zippo instead. However with it's recent chapters it's finally coming together. and has been really intense to read
As far as it's anime goes it's ****, I think that's the biggest reason Naruto get's so much hate is due to bad ports/dubbing also Disney owning the rights for a little while didn't really help it out. Dave Wittenberg is really one of the only good voice actors in the English dub, the rest not so much Believe It!
Anime has way to much filler
Manga so much better
as far as Toriko goes haven't read it yet, I don't even know what it's about :P
