How much better is the manga ?
I found the anime cool, well after all it's quite old. Updated version would be nice. The thing which bothered me the most was the weird ending. How does it differ from Manga's ?
It's much, much better.
They did an open ending to the anime. Which is typical when animes get canceled.
Chronologically the manga starts after the ending of the anime(and follows that for ~2.5volumes), then it has a few sort of 'flashback' arcs to tell the story of how they got there, then it continues pretty much where it left off again.
"I saw [Twilight: Eclipse] in theaters with a girl I was dating at the time. I spent more time staring at my toes and wiggling them than I did watching this abomination. When Edward proposed to Blank Face, I finally looked up with a revelation.
I blurted out loud, in a dead silent theater full of teenage girls on opening night "Wait a minute, Edward has no blood flow. How does he get an erection?" I heard several men laughing, and had several girls turn and stare at me.
I did not get laid that night." - Berengier817

I was so diappointed when I got to volume 37 and found out it was last volume released.
Too bad there's so huge gap between each release, I don't think I'll remember release date...
But story is amazing, artwork is on a different level comparing to other manga, characters are not shallow and one dimensional.
Too bad there isn't anything more to read about it.
EDIT: talking about Berserk

I've been meaning to watch Baccano!. It seems fairly good. I'm not sure I like the 'storytelling' aspect of the anime(seen one episode), but I'm willing to give it some time. I'll probably finish that when I get home from vacation(didn't bring the download and my internet here is way too slow).
The storytelling of the anime is what you actually might like about it ! I don't know if you've heard about it but it's a quite original way to tell a story. They give you no choronological order of the events, as they want you to figure it out by yourself! It's like a puzzle, each episode they give you pieces of puzzle that represents an event. What you try to do by instinct is to find that chronological order of the events, which is pretty awesome! As the episodes goes by, you get more pieces of puzzle (more events), and gradually get a better idea of the story! By the end of the anime you should have figured out the whole plot and be able to put together those events, therefore figure out the story yourself.
Basically, it's a clever thing they did with story telling, aside from the fact that the art, plot and comedy is quite decent. I totally enjoyed watching it, it was a clever anime. It made me feel like I participated into making the story.

Did you mean top three anime? Because I wrote manga, while you wrote anime..
I meant manga, but when I made my list I sort of mixed them up, Sorry xD
My top manga would be: Fullmetal alchemist, Shingeki no kyojin and gantz/Trigun/Toriko/Tower of god (Im indecisive >__< )
From the three chapters ive read now though, Ive got a feeling berserks gonna make this list pretty soon :D

here's a few examples
Yeah two of those 3 images came up as logos with blank screens for me :s
I never said I disliked the art style, I said I disliked the animation. I meant the way the characters moved and such (in the anime) seemed kindof...off. I guess Im just sort of harsh about that stuff.

Do eeeet. U know u want to~~~~~~

O.o Wasn't the manga published 1990 or something ?
It was, exactly 1990 even. But he's taken a few long hiatuses during the publication, I think he's taking one right now even (cuz it's been like 6 months since the last chapter).

I'm pretty sure Gantz, Trigun and Toriko don't belong there, I haven't read Trigun though.
Gantz has too large a disconnect between the early parts and the latter parts of the series(Berserk has this too, but it's not nearly as bad). I must admit that it has some truly amazing parts, but that's not enough to make up for the schizophrenic story and weird fanservice.

Ah, you misunderstood. I just meant to describe the art of the series. The art and animation of the anime is awful, there's no need to sugarcoat it :P

I know, I know. I mean the way the guy is telling the story. That is what annoyed me, also, the gangster stereotypes and their dialogue in general was very annoying too. This might be in part because I didn't like the voice actors(for those characters), not in English nor Japanese.
I generally do like stories that are told out of order. (as long as there's no annoying guy talking about it every 5 min)

Btw, have you read/watched Shingeki? It should be right up your alley if you like Berserk.

Eh, I havent read any other mangas aside from fma and shingeki that really stood out for me (hence the list).
Suprised about the dislike for trigun to be honest, it starts out slightly silly but as you learn more about the characters the mood steadily gets darker (without being schyzophrenic).

Is this guy really putting Toriko as his top manga?
I mean Gantz is fine even though he's pushing it but not Toriko.
Go read 20th Century Boys, One Piece, Berserk, Monster and Yatsubato.
I mean ****ing Naruto is better then Toriko and Naruto as a manga is just hitting "good" on the meter, the anime is still ********.

Yeah Ive been looking at berserk for a while now Since its so highly acclaimed. Only thing that ever really put me of off it was the clips of the anime I saw. More so than anything the animation just sortof seemed a little ugly to me. Guess that excuse doesn't apply to the manga though XD
The art isn't all that great in the beginning, but it takes a big turn for the better halfway into volume 2 (or 3) and then gradually keeps getting better (as with most manga series). The current art and the art in general after volume 20 is ******* amazing. The level of detail is astounding.
Well, most episodes are good, and the change to chronological order instead of jumping in the timeline isn't that big of a deal, but episode 11(I think, the one with Pixi's speech and glasses-girl talking when running on the wall) was ****ing awful. That episode was padded to all hell and they even changed several instances of important dialogue!
The midnight hike during training camp was ******ed as all hell too. They literally just started hiking all of a sudden in the middle of the night, right in the middle of a conversation, for no ****ing reason. That whole conversation just plays out in the dorms in the manga.

Did you mean top three anime? Because I wrote manga, while you wrote anime.. What are your top manga? Or have you not read enough to say?
My top anime would probably be Nichijou, Ergo Proxy and possibly.. Nekomonogatari or Elfen Lied, in that order (not sure about nr.3).
I'll reserve final judgment for when I read through 10-50 chapters. Still, the first few pages just scream 'ghetto One Piece'.
