I think a huge countdown timer somewhere (maybe in every OP thread for an event, AND on the mainpage), detailing the next match/lesson/stream/whatever should be visible. As I live in Australia, I am extremely lazy and can't be bothered converting timezones to participate in events. If the site does it for me, I'm way more likely to join if I know I can make it.
Edit: While I like this idea, I'm also sad about it. It means MobaFire is moving away from the direction of making their own accounts linkable/usable/sociable. From this move alone, instead of creating an event page on MobaFire, we've had to make a new account elsewhere if we want to participate with MobaFire. It's counter intuitive. I think you'll maybe even have less people joining in-houses due to the complications.

I mostly agree with your last paragraph, but I have mixed ideas about the easiness of joining inhouses. Before you could just fill out a form and be registered for the inhouse but now you have to create an account on a guild site. However after that you don't really have to do much, all you have to do is sign up and all the other information is in your account. The best of both worlds would be to make signup sheets a functionality of the site instead of being on google docs and to have all the information require be in our Mobafire accounts.

So, I've created a guildlaunch site for us to use to organize inhouses and other community events. I would like all of you to go check it out and using it to sign up for inhouses. From now on we will be using it to schedule and sign up for events, and to track points etc. So, starting next weekend we are going to use this system. I will be around to assist both players and refs with getting used to the system, and double checking for people that signed up using the old system and asking them to move.
I've also made some changes to the rules, and how the raffle works. Check out these changes in the new site's forums and leave any feedback you have.
To sign up for the site click on the "Launch Code" on the left sidebar and use the code "mowenismyhero" (I know, you all love it). I've left some stickies in the forums that should help you guys figure out how to set up your account and sign up for games!
We will all take some time getting used to the new system, but I think once we get used to it it will make finding and signing up for games much easier, and provide us more utility for fun things to do.
