Few weeks back I was playing vlad top (we had double ap) vs a diamond I jax. He built gunblade+lich bane+nashors+randuins, and stomped the game. I guess it has to do with the ultimate. More ap=more mr.

he prolly did it cus he was stomping anyways.
Just get triforce botrk -> tank. i hate to see people mess up one of my man champions by building stuff like nashors first...
Could it be possible to go Iceborn Gauntlet first? It is cheaper, offers a consistant slow and also gives defensive stats. While Trinity Force obviously gives more damage, there exists games where you need to be tankier and more gold efficient. You could also combine Iceborn Gauntlet with Spirit Visage for high early CDR and defense and get Blade of the Ruined King afterwards. And after that, you could build depending on how the game goes either 1 more offense item or just defense.

Kindlegem instead of Giant's Belt. Not the same amount of HP, yes, but 10% CDR on top of the 10% from the Glacial Shroud and it builds later into Spirit Visage anyway.
