I have decided to take a new approach to the game, lately. I am ceasing to play normal games. I'm just queing all the time for SoloQ, playing my best champions and/or easy ones if I have to play somewhere else.

Reasoning? I do not feel I make progress by playing normals. They are usually very easy. I play a normal game as I play a ranked one: I do my best 100% of the time. The difference between a normal and a SoloQ nowadays is that I don't see any kind of rating progression. And since lately I'm actually queing with better players in normal than when I play SoloQ, I believe it's time to just climb the ladder... casually.

What do I mean by "casually"? I mean, just not caring. I do my best. I lose? Oh well. Queue for another one. Stop looking at my ELO or whatever. I drop a division? Meh, happens. I just keep playing, trying to fix my mistakes and remove all anxiety from climbing fast and now.

Some may say: "but it's bad if you don't really care, you're not doing your best".

Caring too much imo makes you play more stressed, you end up bashing at people and playing worse. And to be honest, most people I've seen at a Platinum level have like 1k games already this season. I've played roughly half of that. Of course, I'd like to get Gold now, but every time I get close, I am very vulnerable to the frustration of stepping back and I start losing focus.

So, thoughts? Valid approach? "Trollish"?

Wish I could do the same, just get way more nervous if I'm queueing for a ranked ._.

Also, roughly half of 1k? I'm only on 127 games in solo queue so far, so that's not too bad :P

That's not a bad idea. Personally I would do that too, if I could. I use normals for playing with my friends, and testing to see if my internet is stable. It hasn't been for the past few weeks which is why I haven't been playing ranked much.

In all honesty, any player who wants to climb should do that. The more you play, the more you climb. People who want to put an effort into climbing the ranked ladder, WILL climb.

In my friend's division in bronze 1, almost every player has 10-100 games played. In my division in plat, almost every player has 200-600 games played.

The reason a bronze 1 player isn't as good as a plat player isn't just that they're not as naturally skilled at the game as them ( though that is sometimes the case ), it's that the plat player has put WAY more effort into trying to climb. I've had so many players in bronze complain to me that they were in Elo hell and they couldn't get out of bronze because of it. I check their profile and they have like 40 games played? Well with that logic, gold and plat are elo hell too, because I haven't been able to get out of them in 40 games? It took me 60-100 games to get out of gold, and I'm still not out of plat. Mainly due to not playing, but I've probably had nearly 40 games in plat already.

People that complain about not being able to climb are people that don't quite understand the game they're playing. League of legends isn't a game in which you win 80% of the time. It's a game which, if you're good at, you win around 54% of the time. To see results in League of Legends, you have to play a LOT. My friends have been complaining to me that they can't imagine climbing up to plat from gold like I did because of their teams and they feel like it's impossible. What's the difference between me, a plat player, and them, gold 5 players? I have 300 ranked wins, they have 100.

The secret to climbing is to just play. I've told them a thousand times that if they just play ranked instead of normals whenever they feel like playing a champ they like and are good with, they would climb so much faster.

What you're doing is a perfectly good approach to ranked. The reason I was able to hit plat was that I loved playing Talon and Swain, and rather than playing them in normals, I played them in ranked instead. If you just keep on playing ranked, you WILL hit at least gold, no doubt about it.

And Wayne, you have 69 wins. Now compare that to the number of wins everyone else in your division has? You can easily hit plat just by playing more often. 69 wins is nothing, and if you were able to hit gold that fast then reaching plat should be a breeze for you. Not in a month if you only play like twice a week, but if you just played ranked instead of normals then you could hit plat in a month easily.

GL It took me approximately 600-800 games to get to gold from silver.
You don't play ranked for the immediate climb, You play to improve your skill.
You will naturally climb as your skill increases.

PLAY Master Yi AND Twitch BEFORE THEY GET NERFED ITS THE SECRET TO CLIMBING ELO.

Secret? I see him rather frequently now. At least Gold players pick him a lot.

I'm trying to climb by playing Leona and Janna mostly. I want to become a good player with both champions. :)

Do you mean not caring about WINNING or not caring about how you do in the game itself?

For the former yes I definitely agree with you. People who want to climb are deluded by their desire to get a higher rank and rather stagnate around their league due to their lack of improvement in skill.

For the latter I would completely disagree. If you stop caring, you stop thinking about your performance, which will overall make you worse and lose you games.

I care about winning..

I think I would say you can't focus on anything outside of your own performance. If team suck gg then team suck gg just move on to the next one. Not your fault if teamsuckgg
