As Sion I usually run with my brother, a Ryze. We can easily stunlock the **** out of whatever champion we don't like with x2 exhausts + our immobilizers, so the range isn't as much of a problem. We usually end up getting a kill within the first couple of levels this way. I don't think of him as a good 1v1 champion, but a good 2v2.
Forget the shield, I don't touch that till I hit 15 or 16 and have the extra mana. And forget AP builds, I believe in using his skills to supplement an amazing base attack, instead of the opposite. AD and tank builds are amazing on him, and if you grab Boots of Speed with whatever you get it's gg. With items like The Brutalizer and the ghostblade, cooldowns aren't a problem. And if you can get an early Bloodthirster, it's game over once you start stacking buffs for it.
I originally tried this build:

But now I've been trying vamp scep - boots of speed - zeal - either TF or ghostblade - Bloodthirster - warmogs - banshee's veil. Usually been grabbing the TF because the slow is so useful. If I'm able to get early kills with this, I can reach 4k+ health by the end of the game, with incredible survivability. Lately I've been using the Bloodrazor as well when I'm loaded with cash, because the extra damage added onto my base attack is so useful.
tl;dr this guy is awesome and easy to use. Not top tier, but pretty awesome.

Seems like it'd work but I don't know why you'd be using a Trinity Force. The Sheen buff seems pretty wasted and fitting a Frozen Mallet on there somewhere might also help your tanking ability. Meh, I don't play Sion that much but yes, he is a good champion, I just don't feel he outranks the likes of Pantheon.

im only using profile pic because he looks cool.
he was waaay too overhyped.
Yea, his damage output is pitiful and the only thing he can do is silence/stun. Even at that, the stun is single target and he won't be able to initiate anyways, he can just silence for half a second and put down a void pool thing that does little to no damage. He's just way too underwhelming.

I'll remake this in another post.. tell me what you think
