It is unfortunately a problem most of us have... That i know of there is no way around it except *getting used to it*. :( if you find anything let me know!

P.S. i personally find they should make it somewhat like twisted treeline... no matter where on the map you are you have perfect vision of your character and all of its surroundings. much easier to navigate. and also what emoriam said

I used to have the same problem. I fixed it by switching to unlocked camera, which is something you should do even if you're bottom side. Using locked camera makes you unable to see what's going on elsewhere on the map.
No gold player or above EVER uses locked camera. Get used to using it, it's a change you'll get used to within 20 games and will permanently improve your gameplay by improving your map awareness. Also with a locked camera it's hard to flash and INSTANTLY hit someone with a spell as your entire screen shifts when you flash, whereas if you have your pointer hovering over someone and click flash with an unlocked screen, your pointer will still be hovering over them after the flash.
Unlocked screen > locked screen
Make the change and get used to it.

Unlocking your camera really helps. It'll take some time to get used to, but it'll be worth the time.
Thank you jhoijhoi, Keondre, LaCorpse, The_Nameless_Bard, Arcana3, Apfeljack, Hogopogo, eddie199, Xiaowiriamu, and JEFFY40HANDS for the spectacular sigs!

Some people, like myself, have a really hard time adjusting. Still remember the first time I unlocked and had to run away being chased by jungler+mid. I laughed so hard because I failed in epic style to keep the camera where I needed it and died.
At first, try using the Y shortcut for lock/unlocking. This should ease the transition.
