So what have I missed?

Regardless of the merits of the build, the runes are suckage. Never take gold seals and armor glyphs. -1.

Actually, building GP10 means you're good enough to beat your lane opponent with virtually zero items, so you build for late game to accelerate your build.
You don't build it if you have a disadvantage because it makes you even weaker and you get destroyed harder.
All the GP10s generate trivial quantities of gold and building a GP10 hurts your teamfighting and ganks. Instead of holding onto a philo stone for 30 minutes I could get more gold from roaming and forcing objectives.
thats ALL assuming your team is going to do well. what do you do when you build offensive, get some kills, and then cant get kills/ahead in farm cuz you are stuck even with the enemy from getting fed off your bot?
Then go help bot? It's a team game. Maybe your botlane is dying because their mid is helping and you aren't.
plus, farming creeps properly WITH the gold per 10 is going to accelerate your build because of avarice blade.
2 gold per CS is nothing, if you miss even a single creep due to not building enough damage or an unlucky crit you just undid two waves worth of
Definitely change the glyphs of armor for MR glyphs. Or have two rune pages with either all MR marks/glyphs or all armor marks/glyphs, which you can swap depending on lane.

meh, i cant do it without bringing teleport with me, it acctually helps SOOOOOO much to be able to just go b and buy 2-3 pots and teleporting back knowing that it wont slow your cheap full build by that much with the gold generating,
also, the gold per 10 items give decent enough stats to keep you relevant in lane especially when you kinda spam your heal with pots.
its also why i build attack speed first and level my e, so that my autos naturally hurt more per level in addition to scaling well with my AS + CDR
Also, as i said in my guide, the build focuses more on your own ability to play more than your "teamwork". If you are good at farming, and playing at the basics of Lol, you can get late game build nearly everytime by 35 minutes and have the game nearly fully in your own swing. Plus, by that time, you can just give up your farm so your teammates can split 5 ppl's worth of gold among 4 guys which should fully swing the game back from any state as long as your nexus turrets are up.

You could get gold per 10 items and be completely useless for 30 minutes, or you could build offensively and get kills, farm well, and gain more gold than these GP10 items could ever hope to generate for you.
Farming creeps properly is like 50 gold per 10. Unless you have perfect CS you have no business doing this build.

on top of that, if you and your lane opponent are dead even in skill, you can't just say, "im going to get ahead of this guy"
Even more the case when you have an innate laning disadvantage because of a random lvl 1 invade/early level unexpected gank.
