I took Smite in my other Rengar guide. There are big discussions about Smite in 3v3. When I take it I begin Golems and smite the big one, that's how you prevent getting too much damage from them, you can also do 4 camps before the altar, with some champs 5 even without smite. Thanks for your comment and opinion. :)

I personally believe that if you are jungling you as well take Smite even in a small map like twisted treeline it is usefull to clear your camps but also secures vilemaw if the enemmy team are attempting it. You just pop in Smite then get out. I have done it countless times and it has saved the game for my team many times. It makes it a faster initial clear of your camps at lvl 1-4 and makes it so you can gank much faster. I personally usually go to wraiths, then head to wolves, smite the big wolf and then go over to the health relic then gank a lane with a lvl 2 advantage since the laners are still going to be lvl 1. I don't do golems a whole that much in the early as they can hit quite hard and are quite resilient compared to the other monsters. By the time your gank is done you can already redo wraith/wolves and then get the altar.

Thats my personal experience from jungling in TT. All a matter of opinion so not saying your wrong :)

my 2 cents
