Some easy champions to begin with:

Annie
- Support/Mid champion
- Playstyle is fairly aggressive
- AP champion, so more of a magician than a fighter

Sejuani
- Jungler
- Playstyle is tanky
- Hybrid champion, but built to tank damage and secure safety of your carries

Mordekaiser
- Mid champion
- Playstyle is a farm monster and snowball
- AP Champion, built slightly tanky. Is a mage

Ashe
- Botlane, AD Carry
- Playstyle Roam, one of the easiest ad carries to play
- AD Champion, built to do high damage output

Master Yi
- Top/Jungle
- Playstyle Tower pusher, he can farm nice and kill turrets fast
- AD champion, which can be played AP, but more or so, a fighter.

Nasus
- Top/Jungle
- Playstyle fairly defensive
- AD champion built for war, tanky, and cooldown reduction
Tip: just farm your Q (So last hit minions with your Q to gain higher damage output)

Some champions that are recommended to get good at:
- Riven
- Shyvana
- Kassadin
- Fizz
- Vayne
- Thresh
- Mundo

Champions i would recommend:
- Lee Sin
- Elise
- Khazix
- Poppy
- Annie
- Hecarim
- Sejuani

If you want to begin jungling you should start with Warwick - he costs 450 IP and is pretty good for beginners ;-)

Don't forget to play ryze, he's a pretty strong pick and fairly easy to play in mid lane

ryze is a pretty bad pick after the range nerf. his winrate is among the ten worst of all champions.
still, if you manage to survive the earlygame(usually after roa unless the enemy team is very ahead), ryze is pretty good imo.
Thanks to IPodPulse for this <3^

Yes, but being a noob it's a really good champion to master and i can tell you that you can do pretty well in low levels. I became 30 yesterday and in normals its a good pick :)

my advice it's you have to play the champs you like to play :)

Thanks to jhoijhoi for the sig!

I started off playing pretty much only ADC's. There are a lot of nuances later on, but when you're learning the basics, I think it's easiest to learn about the game/items with someone like Ashe . From there I branched off into mid, top, jungle, and support. Play around with champs/roles in low-stress co-op games, look at guides/item builds for champions you take an interest in - you can really learn about different items that way.

The most basic strategy you can learn in my opinion is being a marksman in bottom lane. All you have to do is become acquainted with the range of which you can pull off autoattacks, and practice last hitting minions to farm for gold. Primarily, you can start to learn the mechanics easier after that and start experimenting with spells. Spells seem to be much harder to get used to because most champions who are Ability Power (Spell) oriented rely on faster reflexes and combos between sequences of spells. If you can learn the basic flow of gameplay, then the rest starts to come much easier with practice. Jungling and "Effective" Supporting to me was hardest when I first started this game because it takes a huge amount of map awareness and focus, whereas a lane where you focus on minion farming and learning to shoot enemies from far range with an ally support with me in lane seemed the easy way to be comfortable with the gameplay. If you can help it, try laning with a friend support or something. Ashe and Caitlyn were my favorite marksmen, and caitlyns spells were very easy to get down once you shoot them off a couple times. the other ones like draven and jinx are more strategic.

When you feel comfortable enough with the general rules, flow, and understanding of gold and vision, then it becomes much easier to try out different lanes. Using the builds here helps out so much with trying out new champs.

Imo you should start with someone who doesn't take too much strategy, just run in and kill, kill, kill. Some of the cheap bruiser tank types like Garen, Warwick, Kayle and Poppy are a good place to start, that's where I started and moved out to other types once I got the hang of things, I suggest you do the same.
