I will say, however, that the guide is much better now than it was a few months ago.

Well, what I was trying to say at the time is, "How Can WE Make Mobafire 'better'?"

I'm not saying that Matt and the mods do it. I mean like, how can we take it into our OWN hands to give Mobafire a "better name" to others. I was going to save this for another thread in the future, but I'll let you all hear it.

In 10 Normal Games(100 more wins than losses, so that'd be a little above the average player), I solo queued by myself. At the start of the game, I just asked a friendly question in /all, "Do You Know What Mobafire Is?" Out of 90 people, only 17 people said that they have heard about/know what Mobafire is. 5 people said that Mobafire was bad.

Now I'm not saying that we should start spamming Mobafire everywhere, but what can we do to make us more popular? To make us look "better". I know we're always going to have haters. Hater's are gonna hate. However, out of a "Little Above Average Group ELO", 68 people did not know what Mobafire is. So my question is, What can we do as a united community to make Mobafire "better"?

Go Go Brainstorming!

implement a system where junk builds / guides (i.e highly downvoted ones or duplicates) are deleted from the server and implement a system where general guides can be designed (i.e a guide with no champions selected would be considered a guide on gameplay, etc)

But those aren't community related!

as a community, i don't know, it's more or less the content of the website that dictates peoples opinions on the website.

Making us sound better huh? Well I reckon we teach these biased people what true good community is! Let the bells of awesome ring! And let mobafire be the melody to which they sing to! Let us stand tall and show them how its done here on Mobafire! Let us show them how we are able to adept to any charge they throw at us! Let us stand alone and triumphant as a United Community of the Internet!

Anyways now that I got my speech out of the way here are my thoughts. Overall I think database wise we are far above what they think we are. We have updated items and such within a few days of the patches, and champions are also updated as well. Now Xaioli what exactly is wrong with our community? Do they burn our builds just because it is not what they would do or play for that matter? If you have an assumption about what they are calling "bad" then I may be able to give more advice.

Although here is my two cents right now. Would it be a good idea for on the homepage that instead of just having the highest ranked builds, but rather random builds allowing other good builds to move up in the rankings. Now would this make other builds vunerable to trolls? Quite possibly yes, but if they are hating us for the builds. I bet they look at the rating the views, and comments half the time and go, "Oh this build sucks time to tell everyone about it." Though doing this would give decent build's critcism they need in order to do better, and allow them to improve upon that build allowing them to get a higher score.

Instead we have a forum to ask for help with our builds, in which most cases is ignored. You can put "check out my TF build" in your signiture, but does that really get anyone's attention? No not really. So good builds for all we know are rotting away at the bottom of the rankings unable to climb because people are obsessed with all these awesome builds at the top of the scoreboard. (And that is my two cents).

Edit: I have one suggestion. A comment tracker on builds, that appears on on thier profile allowing the person viewing that profile to determine whether that person is trolling them, or maybe they are giving good advice or how much experince they have on the topic. By comment tracker I mean thier most 10 recent comments on BUILDs (because that is the what is acutally voted on now). Now I know you can usually tell this by the content, and post number #. This maybe another way to help filter out the community. (Also may help locate and eliminate trolls, and or reverse unjust downvoting).

Edit 2: Looking closer at these posts on that link I just want to show them whats up. Now its really hard for me not to post a reply, but this would just feed them more ammo to throw at us. Oh but boy am I a little pissed.

I've actually suggested a lot of these before. On PvXwiki, a website for Guild Wars builds, there was a trash system that would automatically delete any guude rated below 50%. That would help us reduce clutter.

General guides would definitely help.

Regarding Rudmed's idea, I also suggested a while back that we have a series of build spotlights, maybe selected by veterans or even regular members. These wouldn't be the top builds but would rather bring attention to guides that deserve it.

I will say I created my Ashe guide: Madmack made a build inspired off of it a week or 2 later (it had the same items except no I-Edge and a Bloodthirster to start instead). I changed my guide and item build, and everytime I change my guide he now changes his to be quite similar.

Anyone that follows my guide has told me this and I have realized it to. I got tired of it and I rest knowing I'm a better Ashe player than he, but I don't rest knowing all the new players using his **** build.

I think there's a correlation.
Click for one of my awesome builds!
Thanks to Mowen, WrATHofVuLK, and AlexanPT for the signatures! Check out Tristana: The Lane Game, Maokai: The Chu8 Way, and Twisted Fate: Card Games!
