I have pretty much the same feeling about the new guide system, although I haven't been influenced directly.
I think what's happening in the 3rd one is that the system wants to display +scouted guides before gold+ guides, and your gold rating is overriding your scouted status (the #1 author isn't verified) and throws you to #2. Maybe you should try un-verifying and seeing what happens lol.
hi embracing. yes i play ff14 now.
Welp...same screenshots after receiving a single upvote (I know because my total votes went from 600 to 601).
When searching Top Rated > Caitlyn
When clicking Caitlyn at the bottom of the page
When clicking All Champs on the front page > Caitlyn
It climbed five places in one list, four in another. Why does a single vote make so much difference on a 600 vote guide? That seems really silly. o.O

You're not the only one bud. :s
I don't think I'm the only one getting really weird swings happening either, I just noticed Embracing's Ezreal guide and Astrolia's Ashe guide down on page 7 when I'm pretty sure they were in like the top 5 guides on the site very recently. xDanielWang's Ahri guide is halfway down page 2 after literally just winning the award for being the highest rated guide on Mobafire three days ago. Dafuq?
I guess it's working as intended but it still seems weird and confusing to me.

I agree that S3 guides shouldn't be displayed on the lists, or at least automatically filtered out. Like you said, there are some S3 guides with no rating at the top of the lists because actually updated guides with some downvotes are on page x.
perhaps; and this sounds right in my head, let me see if i can make it readable on here.
The guides are placed not only on how many votes, but Average vote per day?`
one vote above all those other guides can make a big difference with averages and percentages. Just a theory.
This would allow new guides to be noticed.
If your guide is read by 100 people and only 1 votes on it, and a newcomer has 100 views and 2 votes. he has a higher percentage with 'likes' meaning his guide then shoots above yours.

That is the way it works, and that's absolutely fine. The problem is that the guide lists are automatically filtered to "everything except archived guides", which means that S3 guides (which are largely no longer relevant due to old masteries) are often in places like 4th or such over guides that HAVE been updated, but are on page x.
It also means that new guides with no votes are "worth" more than old guides with -votes. This is also a problem because guides that have been top rated for a while are suddenly on page x due to having more -votes than new guides.
That's how I understand it, anyway.

I'm pretty sure something went wrong with the last update, and S3 guides aren't properly going below S4 guides anymore.

Thanks to GrandMasterD for my sig!

K so what is going on here?
Also it was at one point in the #2 spot in overall top rated on the site and now I've looked through 13 pages of top rated guides and can't find it anywhere. What I CAN find are literally hundreds of guides from previous seasons which are still listed for some reason. I realize you can manually filter it to season 4, but let's be realistic people aren't going to do that - they'll just click the champion they want and go to the first guide they see. Why does it show season 3 and general guides by default?
I'm pretty sure I'm getting spam downvoted for god knows what reasons (which is a problem in itself now that only the last 50 votes count, I never thought I'd miss not having vote decay) or there's some sort of massive bug. It's hard to know because I get absolutely no feedback about what's going on in this system. Either way it doesn't explain why the listings are inconsistent as hell depending on where you click, include outdated guides and make absolutely no sense. Wtf do the green bars even mean? They seem to have nothing to do with position at all.
TL;DR: My guide is dying, I'm mad, the new guide system is confusing and bad and it should feel bad. >:c
