I love LOL, i spend hours with it and its a fun game you can play with your friends or alone, even though the
community is lacking by simple social manners. Im not the best player, and actually im not even a good player, lets say decent.

But what really annoys me is the champions. Im not sure how many champions there are but im gonna guessaround 100 or so (maybe more, i dunno im not einstein). And there seems to be around 20-30 "viable" champions that change from time to time. Its annoying to see the same champion in every match because 80% of the champions are "useless" or "bad" and people who play "viable" champions tend to win. I know this is a clever marketing plan from RIOT, but it still annoys me that if i want to win i pretty much have to use only the champions that are "hip" at the time.

And yes, i know its not so black and white, and that if you know how to play with any champion you can win. But this doesnt make up for the fact that there are always a few champions that are simply much better than others that you really have to use or you are that weird guy who doesnt know what hes
doing and everyone expects you to feed. And as i said, its boring to see the almost same champions every game.

For example i really like rengar, hes one of my favourite champs and all but when i play him it just feels like im playing with a knife in a gunfight,if you know what i mean. I cant get creeps fast enough and i get one shotted every time i try to gank, while the guy on the opposite team is using his lee sin
and dominates everyone.

And yes i know this might be just me playing bad but i still get the feeling that theres too little choice in champions if you really want to win.

There are 118 champions, if I'm not mistaken.

There are champions that are harder to win with, that's a given. But the point is you can still win with any of them.

You like playing Rengar? Keep playing him. Learn the matchups. Discover builds and build paths that will allow you to succeed. Watch pro or Challenger level dudes play him. Get better.

Lee Sin is a horrible example to use. He WAS the most balanced champion in the game. If he was dominating, the guy playing him was decent enough to pull it off. Or everybody else was bad, whatever.

Are you even level 30 yet?

I am level 30 and my point with lee sin was, that every jungle tier-list or something like that states that lee sin is "one of the best" junglers in the game currently and that is why 5-7 out of 10 games theres a le sin either jungling on my or enemy team.

I understand what you're talking about, and trust me, I get so upset you wouldn't believe from time to time.

But I think you're partly wrong about the fact that some champions are better that others. Of course, some champions are really good. But they all got weaknesses. You can easily exploit a Nasus early game, as he will probably be a beast late game.

This is more relevant to counters. The meta is all about these 20-30 champions you talk about. They all counter each other in a sort of way, making them all viable to each others. There is sort of a "group" of champions. I really hope the meta moves on, and what will probably result in more champions picked more frequently.

I really understand and agreeing in the fact that it's boring to see the same champions every game.

I get that it's annoying to play against the same champs all the time, but I honestly don't see that little number of champions played. To give you an example, I frequently see played in mid: Ahri, Zed, Ziggs, Gragas, Lulu, Syndra, Katarina, Kayle, LeBlanc, Yasuo, Orianna, Fizz, Karthus, Nidalee, Akali, Riven. That makes it 16. For one lane. I say that's a good variety.

All those I listed are what you called 'viable'. There are more. Xerath, Cassiopeia, Heimerdinger, Talon, Swain, Kassa'eternally banned'in. BUT WAIT!! THERE'S MOAARR!!! Ryze, Anivia, Annie, Brand, Karma, Lissandra......

The problem isn't the champion. It's the player. You make the champion viable or not.

I think OP is 100% right here. I can clearly see a difference between "top tier" and "**** tier" champions. Obviously player skill is the most important factor, but I'd rather play with an average Ziggs than a good Akali, simply because Ziggs is so much better right now. It's annoying to play the same matchups over and over again, but at least half of the roster is useless.
Try bringing Nautilus or Master Yi to a ranked match anywhere above silver; if you're not a virtuoso with these champs you will get annihilated.

@luizdeh: the fact that champions like Karthus, Cassiopeia or Heimerdinger are still played in mid lane doesn't mean they are good; when I see such picks they are almost always stomped. It only proves how inferior they are.

This is just a small quip, I don't understand why no one plays Nautilus, at least in the lower tiers.
How can you possibly get annihilated with him? He's a CC Tank King on two legs. I personally think he's amazing and leaves a lot room for mistakes on the players part.

Cassiopeia makes people groan in disgust ( on the enemy team ). More poison than Teemo or Twitch can muster, her passive basically encourages spamming her Q, and you can buy mana pots instead of HP pots and get away with it.

It's really, truly, all about the player and their playstyle. Some playstyles are easier to get into, that's pretty much it.

A champion isn't inferior or superior, some are just easier to understand and adapt to as a player.

The camps kill him early, he has ****ty early clears, he's a terrible duelist, and he can't carry.

Quote from a friend of mine. "Anyone is viable. You just have to be good with them." And also "Just play whoever you think is fun."

Many people play Lee Sin simply because he is fun...and of course is really strong. But if you want to play other champions that aren't viable in the meta just do it (-Nike) man. Do what luizdeh said. Learn match ups and different item builds and become a master with them.
I main...the entire top lane.
I miss: Tank Rengar top, AD Nidalee, Mash Keyboard Ryze...the OPs
