I would like to tell you, that this build on volibear is awesome!!!
In ranked game I get my first pentakill !
Very easy games on toplane with him and good job on this guide man!
cape, and Titanic Hydra due to the fact that I usually need more health at the beginning of a game.
Plus they also provide farming help and a good attack boost. I Doubt it is a very effective way of getting the health I need, but your build has helped me out a ton and I thought I would ask your expert opinion lol.

I think stalkers is a good option too. Skirmisher's makes you a lot stronger in a 1v1, stalker's gives you more ganking tools. both are fine, with the new smites you can pick your favourite, depending on your playstile. Can't go wrong there (unless you buy that counter-junging smite whinch is pretty bad)
What do you think about Zz'Rot Portal and combine it with an Guardian Angel and Frozen Mallet?
If it works for you, that's cool. But problem with that build is that you don't buy other great items like spirit visage or dead man's plate which are pretty good on volibear.
Troll guide lol but let me enumerate why
1. using a lifesteal rune on a top lane melee champ means you need to constantly attack minions to benefit from it and with that you will be prone to ganks and with the skill build you are proposing you have a lower chance to survive or escape the gank.
2. This also explains why your Volibear is having hard time against gnar, jayce or any ranged top champs because you want to be lifesteal reliant on both runes and first core item build which is like stating the obvious.
3. Mastering majestic roar is preferable only if you play him as a jungle because that skill is not good at level scaling while mastering rolling thunder 2nd will give you more advantage not only on top lane chasing and escaping but also at mid game clashes giving you better advantage as an initiator.
4. Your meter of match up difficulty is really weird. I mean all those champs can be easily pawned by a good volibear specially teemo because bear eats badgers (I mean even if he tries to harass you just 1 rolling thunder and he wont be able to escape you since voli is a lot mobile and when you come close he already used his blind and that's when you unleash your combo that probably will make him suffer a lot of damage or free kill). The actual champs that counters voli is not olaf but darius and garen who is far more tankier and can actually kill him when his hp drops low ignoring his passive and of course lissandra who got tons of cc will make you suffer tons of pain.
5. Mastery lol runic shield for lvl 1 1 on 1 trade off? I mean really? someone will try to do a solo tribush ambush and trade off at lvl1? on ranking at diamond? rather than helping your jungler or securing the jungle camp?

Skirmisher's is better for 1v1 as it gives you more damage that you lack when building full tank as jungle volibear. Stalker's is also a viable option if you are lacking ways of getting to enemies/ want more ganking potential.
