The thing is Sirell, I understand there are about the same number as positives and NEgatives to Duoing wiht a higher ranked player, but, for whatever reason, I will only focus on the Negatives and it will hold me back.
Then it's not a problem of soloqueue or duoqueue, it's a personal problem and I don't think it's my place to try and help there, so all I can do is wish you good luck.
I am bronze and i duo'd with a plat once just for kicks. someone claimed i was elo boosting. literally the only game i did and it was a series i lost anyway so i didn't get any massive lp for it.

I'm currently leveling a smurf so that I can duo with Kazega and some other friends
Also I genuinely think that Kazega should not be stuck in Silver 5, at least when I play with him
Also as for playing support in ranked, I used to easily carry as support in ranked but I have trouble lately, idk if game changed or if diamond is harder

yeah i'm with thalia - i find it easiest to carry as support. When you get up to diamond, i think that it's just harder to solo carry games though

two people thinking they can save our split pushing tryn rather than pushing for an objective like the open inhib (while dying in the process)
someone crying "i dont support" as an excuse to him being 0/12/6
people with nonsense builds like hurricane on varus
people having an "i have the bigger *****" contest to see who can get closer to the enemy lee sins Q range as the squishiest champions
also **** people that complain about me not ulting when im playing nocturne when theyre out of my range and not in my vision
im not saying im playing the best but i havnt been the worst in my recent games by far

A Diamond Player duoing with a Silver. While I have thought about it, I think I would be intimidated by having to fight above my weight several times over. Something like this will only hurt me, not because I will get better or whatever, but because I will feel like Thalia carried me, and that I will be a burden to the rest of the team, which is something I cannot stand to be.
Also I've been maining op lane in Solo Q
I duoqueue with a Diamond 3. Got me all the way to Plat V yesterday from Silver III.
Occasionally, he smurfs onto a lower tier to make matchups a little easier (and with the new duoqueue tier restrictions, that's what I would have had to continue doing), but the point of duoqueing isn't just to 'get carried', it's so you can flourish in your role. You also pick things up at an amazing rate if you communicate with them. I learnt so many things from the Diamond III I duoqueue with that even when I enter soloqueue, I can stand up to high Golds easily, especially if I am playing my main role.
If Thalia can have a lower tier account to smurf onto that's still roughly around your level (Silver V/Bronze I), then you can see how well your MMR rises appropriately. If you struggle in your lane, then you need to go back to the workshop to drill some more mechanics and knowledge into yourself.
