Modern Day Magic and Magecraft?
Mahou Sensou, if you did not watch, yet. Tho, it was also too generic for my likings, or lets say too many stereotypes :/.

Other than that, there are some, but I never watched them, they were released in the past 2 seasons.
Maybe
'Noragami'
'Wizard Barristers: Benmashi Cecil' - no idea what that is, was aired Winter 2013
'RDG: Red Data Girl' - I think this one focues less on the use of magic (from the description) but, if you watch it, tell me. I'd love to hear some opinoins on wether to watch or not :p

Maybe I'll give Mahou Sensou a try, idk yet.

As for noragami, I watched it and didn't exactly fit what I was looking for. Was still decent though. Probably a little too short for my liking, but I had a few good laughs :3

Wizard Barristers seems like it'll be bad, I just get that vibe.

As for Red Data Girl I might actually watch it right now. I love the whole "Vessel for a god" thing they have going around :3

Okay so I finished Red Data Girl.

I was... surprised while watching it as it was unlike my previous experiences concerning shows like these.
This show is supposedly a well of mixed feelings for many people, yet for me it was rather... straightforward.

It had its good points, and there were many; however some of the bad points, even when fewer and less significant than the good points, take their toll on the show and bring it down substantially.

Essentially, I was captivated by the music, sound, art and character design. I enjoyed looking at the characters interact and develop whilst not minding the romance (or at least its subtle hints).

Despite this, the series has one major flaw: it did not take much time at all to explain things. Normally this wouldn't be much of a problem, and could be used as a tasteful way to add charm and a hint of mystery to the series. This, however, did not happen. The universe wasn't properly explained, neither were some of the characters (The goddess, the divine spirit etc) nor the incantations and prayers used. I assume that if you know some ancient Japanese culture you would understand things more clearly, albeit that understanding would still be partial.

I feel as if this show lacked enough means to create the episodes it needed to be able to convey the story properly, which leads to a feeling of confusion and an inability to think on the same frequency as the show. Basically, I was unable to figure out the point of the show and was unaware of where it was going and what it wanted to portray. This is to blame on the lack of explanations, and sadly, leads me to universally rate the show as 6/10 but 8/10 when it comes to personal enjoyment.

Not to say I didn't like this, because I did. It calmed me down and never made me feel bored, mostly because it did such a good job immersing me in to its world.

I would recommend this show to anyone looking for a serene and calm series, without much action nor heavy dialogue. Essentially, if you are expecting magic, battles, constant action or even drama - you will not find it here.

I can't say much more without spoiling things, therefore I will avoid doing so.

I am watching Shinsekai Yori right now, XeresAce.
This might be something for you,
allthough the Anime is using a different style than the Manga (Manga had more ecchiness/mature looking characters) while the Anime is close to Nagi no Asukara style

The shinsekai yori manga is complete and utter ****, the anime is one of my favorites (and has been for a while now, along with psycho pass) :3

Also, wait till episode 5. The show gets a dramatic mood change along with an art style change to fit the new mood.

Thanks for the recommendation though xD

Oh damn, didn't know you watched that one already...
MHhh yeah I am at episode 14 now.

At some point (after the 2 yrs timeskip) I just remembered a review of Anime Year 2013 and that one kissing scene was in and I had like the exact same reaction as the youtuber xD.

But I noticed alot of the scenes from the Manga were just taken over to the Anime, allthough the artstyle didn't fit.
For example Maria and Saki kissing in Episode 12 or 13. People would be all over that **** if it was the Manga artstyle, but the simple style in the Anime just makes that scene awkward LOL

I have a bit of trouble comprehending what you're trying to say...
The scenes in the anime looked great to me, they portrayed what they were supposed to and never went over to the top...
Idk, but sex scenes with 14 year old girls exaggerated like they were in the manga is just so stupid and I feel as if the manga is just one huge ****ing insult to both the anime and novel...
I honestly don't think people should be "all over" things like this, especially since the anime is actually targeted at a mature audience rather than being lesbian porn...

Sorry if that seemed harsh or anything, but I feel as if the manga really doesn't deserve the privilege to be compared to the anime and/or novel right about now. xD

Nah, I don't think so.
The storytelling could have went 2 different ways, like the Manga or the Anime.
That is because the actual plot is perfect for a fanservice heavy artstyle / story telling.
In that case the tragedy/mystery would be secondary, we see that in alot of mangas/animes.

Now my view on Shinsekai Yori,
as a first watch it was a 8/10, but I can see myself rating it worse when watching a second time.
The show relys heavily on mystery and little twists that were build in.
The scenes I mentioned were the Bonboros-Scenes in which they explained the behavior of mammals.
If you only watch the anime, you wouldn't even get the Bonboros entirely. Since the Manga just openly tells you what it is (with fanservice). In general the Anime did a great job going for a more plot heavy story telling, but at the same time left holes every now and then that could be intended as mystery but more comprehensive when readiing the Manga.

Btw. alone by heaving the same name, the Manga has the privilege to be compared to the Anime - especially when the style is so much different.

Edit:
And about the seasonal Animes:

No Game No Life: 9/10
For now it is a 9/10, I can't see it as a 10/10, yet. The plot right now wasn't anything great, the lone reason I'd give this a 9/10 are the characters and the entertainment.
For me personally, the score is also justified because the clicheés and stereotypes were not overused, but rather perfectly used in a dose that I could still like them. GJ!

Black Bullet: 5/10
**** this generic shounen-mc harem romcom action ****.
Why the **** do people still want to watch someone with 0 social skill get all vagina shaped individuals to fall for him? - AH RIGHT CAUSE THEY IDENTIFY THEMSELVES WITH HIM
And about the rest of his character and the story: ****ty pacing everywhere
Still gave 5/10 - nvm. It just dropped to 4/10 - even the entertainmend value is ****

Edit2:
Horimiya Chapterr 37 just exploded my non-existent vanilla ovaries.
It is actually happening in a romcom manga without smut tag lol, perfect way to portrait the situation and the feeling of being dirty (instead of the awesome feeling) afterwards.
Vanilla all the way, no freaking stereotypical interruptions. doki doki

I finished watching No Game No Life.

One of the few anime that made me feel the urge of reading the LN as soon as I finished watching the last episode.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, mainly because of the main characters. The moment I noticed NGNL is adapting a variant of the MC trope in One Outs, I knew I was gonna love this.

Badasses Shiro and Sora are badasses. Hell, the whole cast is amazing. The art was unique in its own way and the soundtrack was decent. Animation FX were top notch aswell.

Definitely worth a watch.

I'm also 5 episodes into Black Bullet.

Damn MyAnimeList baited me on this one. 7.80/10 and nice gifs of the anime sold me. Turned out to be generic, even cringeworthy at a certain point. I mean I knew it hit rock bottom when the MC started yelling the name of his attack moves. The only thing that'll make me keep watching this is the fact that it's actually dark (people actually die and such).
