Is Karthus in the jungle for solo queue viable at all? I would think he would be somewhat comparable to Fiddlesticks without as much sustain of course.

Yes it is viable. I wouldn't really say it's the best way to climb because he doesn't fit the traditional jungle bruiser role that most junglers fit. In solo queue your team probably won't be able to build smart team comps to include karthus jungle so I'd only do it if you're good at it.

As DillButt mentioned, Azingy plays Karthus jungle in challenger so it's certainly viable.
Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!

Pretty high skillcap. For the first clear, you have to know how to manage your Qs and autoattacks as well as your monster kiting to ensure you don't take too much damage.

If you want to do this, you're gonna have to dedicate a fair amount of time to practicing your opening and learn how to recover from behind, as Karthus is highly vulnerable to invades.

His main asset is being able to gank from anywhere on the map as soon as he hits level 6. Of course, there's also his late-game, which is still obviously considerable if you ever get there.

Karthus is an extremely weak jungler, but if you can manage to survive the first 10 minutes or so without feeding too hard, you should be fine. His main strength is his extremely high damage output against jungle creeps because of how fast his Q can be spammed. This lets his clear extremely fast and take objectives quickly. However, he gets low in the jungle quite often and runs out of mana very quickly too, even with blue buff.
