That **** was revolutionary when it came out. I remember how epic it was getting Freeze + Frenzy bananas together, and if you were lucky, double score (I hope I'm remembering correctly, it really has been a while since I played).

603 in my fifth try :P
Game's pretty **** tho, so I'm not gonna keep at it.
I mean seriously, a score attack game that has a crit system that randomly increases your score? Yeah.. no thank you..

Most iPhone/Android games aren't meant to be that in depth. They're meant to be nice, little, simple games that you can play when you're feeling bored. Fruit Ninja is good for exactly that reason. And in terms of addicting games, it is definitely on the higher end of things. I really can't complain about that.
I mean, there are games that do provide a very large amount of content, like Five Nights at Freddy's, but those are generally on the more expensive side of the spectrum. Fruit Ninja is just a cheap little distraction that's fun to pull out when you feel the need to play something.
Personally, that game for me is 8 Ball Pool right now.

Depth isn't the problem. The RNG is. A lucky run is all it takes and most people could overtake the score somebody took 10hours to get.
At least games like Flappy Bird don't have any of those, even if they are ridiculously simple.

I know there are far better games in the genre. I'm not even all that interested in the genre and I know of a few that are better.
And in terms of little distractions there are even better games to look at.
World of Goo, Card City Nights, Monument Valley and Sorcery! are all significantly better games and far more worthy of your time. Sure, there's an up-front cost involved, but so is there for games on PC. Quality games often cost money.

Well, it certainly seems better than Fruit Ninja at first glance.

Yeah, we gotta be nice to each other now that the birthday of a mythical figure is coming up. His name is “hypocrisy” right?

Hypocrisy is a very real thing though.
