Yeah.. That's a pretty dumb design decision on their part.
But so is the whole power-up system too. There's about as much bad design as there is good D:

Regardless, it's something I, personally, enjoy doing when I need something to do with my hands. I also knit, among other things.
I compulsively pick at my skin and things like that keep it at bay, so I'd rather play a stupid unbalanced game in which I can't even hope of beating my high score than end up with any more scars than I already have, basically.
