I just noticed you said greaves and not Graves :D
Greaves are good generally but they are more expensive
You will do more damage but will be harder to start doing it cause you have to hit the 1st shot to start the chase and as I said it will delay your core items
Keep in mind that items you'll get after like Mortal and RFC will increase your move speed in percentage too, so the higher you have the more you'll have
Usually it's not worth going for them for these reasons
More expensive, less movement speed and first shot potential for some damage
Not building the Galeforce takes away some of your mobility so you mostly need them cause of that too
Graves vs Jhin is mostly about who hits first and is more fed, pretty on par, just don't let him get close do you, hit him and commit / retreat based on what's going on
If you know you're gonna kill him in 2-3 hits, go for it but be wary of the W smoke, he'll all in you if he hits it and you'll most likely die
If you play this mid especially keep in mind that you are an ADC mid, the jungler is gonna love you, so not a good idea skipping boots, you are not mobile, if jungler shows up, you're doomed if you can't run
I used to always rush boots for this reason, you don't really lack the damage and gives very good trade potentials
You charge your 4th shot, hit it and run back with your speed
Lately I've been building Collector first rather than Kraken, so going Serrated + Tier 1 boots and after that completing the boots
In the end depends the amount of money you got to base with and who you have against
Decide if you are punishing them enough you could even more with damage, if staying safe or they have a very risky jungler, go for the boots rush
Ghost can be good, but most of my early kills and some of the late kills come from the surprise flash + 4th attack, it's a really strong suprise attack especially for the early kills
Plus flash enables you to flash over walls ofc, can be life saving
If they have a lot of bursty champs that dash and one shot you, flash is a must
If they aren't really that mobile and you know you can chase down, you can go ghost
I never really tried sorcery much, from the removal of omivamp from lethality page it got a little less useful
I now run move speed out of combat instead for roam potentials with ults and getting to places easier
Instead of Alacrity now I run bloodline too, need the life steal cause of the same reason + the 100 hp are nice too
Sorcery sounds very hood for snowball potential
I would go: Comet, Nimbus or Nullifying if AP matchup, Absolute focus, Gathering storm
Secondary probs precision page with Bloodline and Coup the grace
A good alternative is going the popular Fleet rune page too, but it's mostly about mobility and heals that one
Lethality and sorcery page this was is for big offense and snowball
I wouldn't do Hydra earlier, you need the crit with Jhin, most games I find myself not building the Hydra anyways, only when extremely fed for fun at this point
My usual current build path is: Swifties, Collector, Kraken, Infinity, last iteems depending: Lord Dom if Armor, Mortal if heals, RFC if approaching them is hard, Bloodthirster if the enemy is not building anti heal or none of the previous items fit your current situation
Why mid? As a solo player been finding myself way better midlane with Jhin than in botlane
You are an extremely good single target champion, mid laners are usually squishy and the lane is straight so very easy for you to do anything
Plus the roam potential for you is very big with your R and W, top and bot
If you having difficulties mid just be the second jungler of your team shortly
And you are Jhin, you don't really care about resistances with this build, if it was with Galeforce you would sadly do no damage to tanks, it got nerfed too
I prefer the 450 true damage late plus the AS it gives that converts in more AD and MS on crit
If extremely difficult game for you full of assassins, then you can go Shieldbow too
With the current oneshot meta, unless you are in pro play and doing extremely skillful things, you are better far off killing the enemy first than trying to dodge 1 ability with a mini dash then doing less damage in general
Hope it was useful :)
And yeah I meant greaves. Greaves gives 15 less move speed but gives a little over 50 ms on crits so it is faster in combat lategame and gives like 8-9% damage, but that 15 ms from swifties is also a little more since its before increases so it helps crit and ghost feel faster.
So is it just not viable to drop boots lategame for the runaan hydra combo? Or why don't you like runaans

If they don't have something that can jump on you and burst you out, then flash + ghost is very viable
Basically consider if you need barrier or not, I usually grab barrier cause it's easy to bait people in and kill, especially under tower most of the times
If you going full snowball then you can ignore barrier and go for ghost indeed, will help escaping a gank too in case instead of barrier defending you
In this case the E placement is very important
Swifties is mostly for the early game, keep in mind that you won't really always crit till mid / late game
So you're basically rolling a dice while always being slower till you build some crit items
In my playstyle I use the early swifties to poke the midlaner and retreat and just generally run if something is trying to chase me
If you wanna go for a more aggressive build you can go greaves, but the delay cause of the price is pretty important too, as I said it means finishing other items later
In the end I always think when I recall, what's better: Swifties + Refill or just Greaves
Refill lets me stay in lane more if I get poked down or ganked, so not losing the farm
That's my logic to it regarding it all
And I used to drop boots lategame for hydra / runaan, it's extremely good if enemies group together and pushing lanes extremely efficiently to end the game, but most of the times you'll have to build something else, especially with the current meta play where you have to oneshot or get oneshot
I would mostly classify it now as a "fun build" than anything else
And oh yeah, you can go sorcery secondary for the ultra powerful late game as you can go greaves
I usually go precision for the suvivability early, Jhin early just needs to survive and it helps cause of the heal from bloodline and coup the grace 8% increased damage is nice too for executes
If you go sorcery second, I say bloodthirter is a must to keep your health up for absolute focus, will be the only source of heal you'll have (excluding taste of blood)
