Malz is a very under rated champ and not a lot of people can use him be cause of how difficult he can but i hope i can help you learn him better with this guide.

Items

Opening with a doran's ring is always a good start it gives you all the early game advantage you need AP mana regen and heath and it should keep you in lane till you get enough gold for your boots.

Now i prefer the sorcerer's shoes over the cool down boots only because these are simply better. if you do the math damage out put is better then the cool down to spam your ability's and run out of mana and force your self to back more.

After i get hextech revolver and rush will of the ancients the the AP and spell vamp you get from it gives you the edge you need to really need to over power whom ever your facing and gives you the ability to gain life just by farming lone.

From there i get rylai's crystal scepter. the reason i choose this over going for death cap or other pricy items is simple. the items leading up to it are just convenient 2 cheep AP items and a heath item its just convenient. as for the scepter its self you are simply too slow to catch any one who runs away even if you tag them with your visions or your null zone the only sure fire way to catch them if you get them with your call of the void.

After all this i get death caps. yes caps not one but two. why? ITS A DEATH CAP. (so this is sot a spam build) yes its true that death caps don't stack with each other but they stack with every thing else you have.

And if some how the game has gone on long enough you get and elixir of brilliants once every few minutes too keep it up and if needed sell your ring and gets some type of armor to counter act there carry (i.e thornmail or force of nature)

early game

Early game you want to use your call of the void and you malefic visions to harass you opponent and keep them off you. your early game damage out put isn't very much. just a few hundred damage here and there but your focus early game is to out farm them and keep them off your tower witch for malz is extraordinarily easy. with malz you are always moving and you want to keep your opponent constantly moving so use both your AoE's too push them back.

mid game

By now you hopeful have picked up a kill or two and have out farmed them enough that they are pushed to there tower.the tower will target your voidling as if it's a minion, but your voidling is the best way to put damage on towers mid game. and now its a waiting game and you just need a second for them to over extend and then you take them down don't be afraid to use ignite if you are unsure about the kill. and buy wards because if you are over extended it might just save your life "buy wards stop ganks" -nickbtrippin.

late game

Here's were malz shines because you just have such a high damage out put you just keep getting kills people will always try to rush you in a one verses one or a one verses two but you have an advantage. you have two really powerful AoE's that placed right. will get you the kills and if its a one verses one you have possibly the stongest ult to take them down and if you follow my build it will be dealing over 1000 damage alone. and with the damage there putting on you is being counter acted by you malefic vision.

Skill Sequence

Level one i take a point in call of the void because it is your best harassment early game after that max out visions by level nine. this way your dealing more damage with that then your ult. and at level four or five take a point in null zone and always try to land it right under them before you ult to maximize your damage out put.

your voidling and you

This little guy is fast, deadly,and tough and possibly the dumbest thing you ever will see. Evey four spell cast you get a voidling for the fist seven seconds he doesn't do much else other then look adorable after seven seconds the fun begins he gets stronger and faster same is true after fourteen seconds and twenty-one seconds. your voidling will go after 2 targets in this order. the target infected with your visions then the target your auto attacking. with that in mind make sure you two are attacking the same thing to maximize damage on your target.

I couldn't decide were to mention farming but i am putting it here because this little guy is so important to your farming during your early game. he will attack what ever is infected with your visions so you make you voidling and spam your visions right?, wrong. wait and just let the little guy do his own thing. and when it grows after seven seconds then you cast it this way your visions jump from minion to minion and you can get as much value from each and every one of your voidlings

Farming

As malz you are the best farmer in the game. with your voidling and two AoE's you can out farm just about anyone you come up against. you want to utilize your voildling while he's alive but not over use your ability's to get him out there. when it comes time for the kill you don't have enough mana for it and have them get away or worse.typically i use call of the void to weaken or kill the caster minions while use ing visions and my voidling to farm the melee minions and take note tht unless your voidling is level 3 or higher you wont be able to kill cannons minions durring the duration of visions so when it jumps to the canon it stops there .farming with your ability's is some thing you have to get use to and learn what way works for you. but once you get the hang of it you just out farm them

Going in for the kill

You always have to be thinking when your going for the kill and always calculate how much damage you have versus how much life they have this is true for any champ but if you intend to take the kill with malz you must be able to tell exactly how much damage you can do.always consider your opponent to have enough life to survive one attack. so always try to use both your visions and nether grasp when trying to get the kill. and do note that ignite will not cause your ult to stop channeling

spell vamp on malz?

I have never seen spell vamp on any other malz guide. so why do i get it? with malzahar's moves it makes spell vamp very effective you have one AoE that can gain you a lot of life very quickly and another AoE that the more heath they have the more heath you get and then you have you visions witch jump from target to target gaining you life per second. and your ult. its almost like Warwick. all the damage your opponent just did. is completely undone. thats why i use spell vamp on malz.

this is a very powerful attack. not just because is a damaging silence but its an AoE so silence two champs at once? solid attack even at low levels

An AoE that deals damage based on a percentage of their heath great against tank and bulky champs like olaf. it also makes your opponent move a lot more then they want to and keeps you in control

Malefic visions

Malefic Visions - Malzahar infects his target's mind with cruel visions of their demise, dealing damage each second. If the target dies while afflicted by the visions, they pass on to a nearby enemy unit and Malzahar gains mana. Malzahar's Voidlings are attracted to affected units.
Malzahar infects his target's mind, dealing 80/140/200/260/320 (+0.8) magic damage over 4 seconds.

If the target dies during this time, the visions pass to a nearby enemy and Malzahar gains 10/14/18/22/26 mana.

OK. this.is.just.broken a damage over time attack that if the target dies if jumps to the closest thing then restores mana and your voidling will attack it and we all know how strong that little guy is so the two of these put together is a deadly combination

malzahar's ult.scales off of 1.3 of your current AP. let me say that again. 1.3 percent of his AP is put in his ult. ya do the math.its a lot of damage that they cant do anything about(except gankplank and olaf). ya its kinda a big deal.
