Early Game Strategy

Lane Placement

Annie's optimal position is Mid Lane. She will not be able to take on 2 enemy champions in early game. Due to her high magic damage and ranged attacks, she has a consequence of low health and movement. The Stun ability will also be more effective when there is only on enemy champion to deal with.

Farming

Only use Annie's Disintegrate(q) to farm for gold in early game. Keep Annie walking around until you find a minion with low health the use your (q) to kill that minion. Only use (q) because (q) has an ability that will allow you to regain the mana used if the minion is killed while using (q). In early game this is crucial, as Annie has very low mana.

Stun Ability

You also want to avoid wasting your mana on the enemy champion as much as possible in the early game. Try to stay far away until you find a low health minion to use your (q) on.

The only time you would want to attack the enemy champion is when you have your Stun charged (5 q = Stun). Even then sometimes the timing and location of the enemy champion isn't sufficient. When you do find the right position to stun, this is when you want to use your Incinerate(w) to stun, followed by a (q). You want to use (w) first since it has a limit range, but the (q) fire ball will follow into the target once you get it lock on.

Make sure to fall back after this happens, it will not kill your enemy. But it will hurt/scare them enough to make them fall back to their own turret. You don't want to risk losing health rushing their turret. Instead continuing farming and pushing your position in the lane.

What To Do When You Lose Ground On Your Lane?

This is not a bad thing, I'm actually delighted when this happens. I'll explain...

When you are losing ground on your lane with no minions to help you, always fall back to your turret. Having the stun charged is critical at this moment. Your enemy champion will follow their minion to attack your turret. You will want to place Annie right beside the turret (not behind). Will waiting for them to arrive have your (w) ready with the stun. Once the enemy get close enough, use your (w) stunning them near your turret. Then follow up with a (q) and finally use your Exhaust spell to Slow. While all this is happen your turret will be also doing critical damage to your enemy, leading to an easy kill.

Here is the attack order:
1. Fall Back Beside Turret
2. (w) w/Stun
3. (q)
4. (Exhaust)

..or if you already have Tibbers(r)
1. Fall Back Beside Turret
2. (r) w/Stun
3. (w)
4. (Exhaust)
5. (q)

See.. losing a little lane position isn't that bad when you establish a well executed counter attack.
