Introduction

Hello, summoner!

This is my first item build guide for Ryze, so be gentle. This guide includes Hybrid Ryze - AP/Mana. I know that it's not logic to build Ryze not pure Mana, but check this out - it really works! I recommend this build to those, who has been playing Mana Ryze and got bored. It's fun, it's strong, but has a few cons. So let's get started!

Summoner Spells

Flash - good for instant fleeing or chasing.
Ignite - extra damage is always good.
Ghost - suggested for lower level summoner's.

Nothing more to say there.

Runes

For Runes I recommend to go for Movement speed Quintessences since Ryze is a slow champion and it's good for running away or chasing.

This build is very strong at early-mid game, so Armor seals and M. Ressist glyphs are perfect for Ryze to keep him alive. For Marks I take Magic penetration. They're good for early&late match gaming. But if you don't like it, you can take Intellect Runes which add Ryze some Mana.

Masteries

I take 7/0/23 at masteries. Why? [UTILITY'S] Mana regeneration is vital to Ryze, especially at the beggining. Movement Speed masteries with movement speed runes makes Ryze hard to chase or to run from him.

Items

Here we go...

Doran's Ring at the beggining is good, so you can have more HP and MP regeneration.
I strongly recommend you to buy 2nd Doran's Ring so you can be hard to kill (more HP).
After you get Sorcerer's Shoes, rush for Rod of Ages for more AP and Mana. After that you can choose - build Frozen Heart (if enemy's team is more AD), or go for Banshee's Veil (if enemy's team is more AP). Rod of Ages is perfect item for Ryze, because it gives HP, MP and AP (which is good for Ryze's W and E skills). Will of the Ancients (Spellwamp item) let's Ryze to re-gain lost health after skill's hit. In a teamfight, Ryze has more survivability (keeps him on foot longer).

Skill Sequence

For skills I strongly recommend max first E, because it's reducing enemy's Magic Resistance. Before bursting an enemy I suggest first cast Spell Flux skill, so Enemy will be less resistant. After it I recommend to raise Q and W each one by one. Q lowers cool-downs and W snares longer.

Pros / Cons

+ Stronger at the beginning;
+ Has more health at mid/early game;
+ Easy to chase/flee.

- Less damage;
- Weaker in late game;
- Requires more personal skills to cast skills properly.

Summary

Well, if you cast Spell Flux with some brains in your head, you will win your lane for sure.
