I recommend to get Rod Of Ages way earlier, the later you get it the lower is the chance that you are able to use its full potential.
It still is a situational item, and buying it before Rabadons and Lich Bane will harm your damage. The mana is not really needed, it has less AP than Rabadons and because of it's passive you should take Lich Bane after Rabadons! So I hope that I explained my point of view with this.
Not gonna vote up or down yet here. But i recomend adding a mana chalice or something, sure blue card is some good mana gain. But overall you need more I think.
I never have mana problems, since I start off with a Doran's Ring, I get the 3 mana regen per 5 with the utility masteries, and the return of mana from the blue card! This is for me enough to never have mana problems and it doesn't hurt my damage!
@Demon Cleaner: Build-Related: Or don't get RoA at all - Get Rylai's instead.
Rushing RoA or Rabadon is vital on TF, or else you will be ****. Having no Mana and dealing low damage.
Rabadon give you insane poke but lesser mana pool.
RoA gives you damn fine poke and a lot of mana/hp.
IMO, RoA is a core on him, then Rabadon.
