Introduction

Hey everyone! This is my build/guide on Sona, the Maven of Strings. Personally i think Sona is one of the best Supports there are in the game because of her massive versatility. She is the PERFECT support. I play her as a beefy support, to help the squishyness and sustainability that every sona player knows is a problem.

NOTE
The following terms mean as stated....
[*] M.R- Magic Resist
[*] Philos- Philosopher Stone
[*] H.O.G- Heart of Gold
[*] Arch- Archangles Staff

Runes

I go with Greater Mark of Potency and Greater Quintessence of Potency for stronger early game heals and damage. I also use Greater Seal of Resilence Greater Seal of Resilence and Greater Glyph of Warding for early/mid game sustainability. You may sub out the M.R. glyphs for Mana regen/Abililty Power if you'd like, but i feel that the chosen runes are the best option.

Masteries

Not much too say about this section, i go with a traditional support tree going with the 9-0-21. Being sure to grab the improved Ghost and Flash in Summoners Wrath and Summoners Insight.

Items

The main role of a support is to help your team while taking as LITTLE damage as possible, but this can be a very difficult thing to accomplish if your so squishy you get two hit as soon as the fight breaks out. Many teams will focus the support A.S.A.P becuase they know that a sona can change the game as fast as any fed carry can, so this is why I build the way I do. The build itself begins with a Faerie Charm and eventually building into a Philosopher's Stone Philosopher's Stone. This is a very, very good item for Sona or any other support for that matter because you wont be getting very many minion kills. (The 5 gold/10 seconds passive is what im referring to.) Now to boots. I usually run with Mercury Treads, but there are many viable options. Ionian Boots of Lucidity and Boots of Swiftness will also work depending on the enemy team. The next item on the list is the Heart of Gold for the health and passive 5 gold/10. Before you rush into your next items, you should let your Philos and H.O.G rack up some of the massive cash thats its bring in. It brings in DOUBLE the ammount gold thats already pasively generating. I usually keep the items until i have around 2k just waiting to be spent. Lets get to real CLUTH items in this build. The BEST item any support could have is a Shurelya's Reverie . This item is so amazing. It can next your team escaping kills, help your own team escape, get across the map, and even help your tank initiate fights extremely quick. I could go on forever on this item, but sadly we must progress. Next on the list, is the Randuin's Omen . This item is going to make you a lot more sustainable, and a lot more useful as well. Its passive and aura are VERY useful, don't forget to use them!! The next items are just for better heals and sustainability, so I'm not going to go into detail about the items. The only mentionable things are the slow on Rylais and the M.R reduction on Abbysal Scepter.

Skill Sequence

The skill sequence very much relies on the game. If you are dominating your lane you should max your Hymn of Valor and then alternate between between Aria of Perseverance and Song of Celerity . If you are losing your lane, you should max your Aria of Perseverance and alternate between Hymn of Valor and Song of Celerity . There isnt really a skill combo for Sona, just watch to see what your fellow teammates need.

Summoner Spells

The two summoner spell I usually run are Flash and Heal . These are very basic for a support and I do advise using them although you can substitute Heal for Clairvoyance or Ghost .

Tips

[*] If possible lane with an Attack Damage carry. Whoever you lane with LET THEM FARM. You will not need minions because you will have 2 5 gold/10second items.
[*] Applying any buffs to teammates will grant you an assist if they get a kill. So use all your skills!
[*] Only use your ult in game changing moments when you can stun a group or mass of people!
