Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This is my personal build that I've been using for a while now. It's showed to work with the way I play, however there's a limit to how much one player can carry.
So let me start off with the mastery build. I build 22 points offense and 8 points utility for the extra exp and regen.
I run full crit runes.
My summoner spells are usually exhaust and flash, sometimes I go with ignite instead.
Now to the items, start off with Doran's Blade and a health pot. Then get Berserker's Greaves, mobility is very important in any game. Save up to get a B.F. Sword, it might take a while if you're not doing so well but it is worth it. Work your way up to get an Infinity Edge. Next you can go any other damage items such as Bloodthirster, or you could get my favorite, Madred's Bloodrazor. It's great against others who has high hp and if they have high armor it will deal magic damage instead. But I'd rather let other AP dps handle them.
One last thing I didn't mention in the items, you can sell your Doran's Blade anytime after you get Infinity Edge. I sell it to get Bloodthirster to replace the lifesteal component.
So on to my play style; if you're soloing mid, be cautious about who you're up against. If there's a stealth champ missing on either lanes, chances are, they're aiming for you. So in this case I'd play it safe while semi-aggressive when you're close to the middle of the lane. Use your Explosive Shot's Active to harass your opponent and hit them once or twice and then back away. It might seem sissy, but effective. If there are no stealth champions and everyone is present, then harass your opponent wisely. Be wary of the opposing minions, for they'll return the damage you make, so limit their numbers first before you make a move. Pay attention to last shooting minions for it will have a great impact on your money and in turn getting your items faster. I usually back when I have around 1k to buy greaves and another health pot.
Try to get lizard buff here and there since its great for slowing down your opponents and extra damage.
Now on to team fights. Pick your targets wisely and get into a good position where it's hard for them to attack you. If your team is fighting in the jungles, you can try shooting them from the other side of the wall.
In the later games, even tanks will be easy to down. But if it's one champion that I hate going against, it would be Jax. In this case, I would get a sword of the divine.
I am very open to suggestions and welcome any feedback.
