Cassiopeia the Serpent of Death
Intro: I'm fairly new to posting guides, nor making them. I normally do it out on paper for my reference and for friends. Most people I've seen talking about Cassiopeia in forum don't seem to like her at all. They says shes the worst mage ever, so on and so forth. I'm not sure how they played her, but when I play her, she is amazing. the combo potential is ridiculous and the range and constant ability to harass is great. If you are bad at placing skills like Karthus's bomb then yea, you probably will have a difficult time with her since she relies so much on hitting her enemies with poison. But if you are good with that then you are good to go. Feel free to add any suggestions you think my guide is lacking or any points on it in general.
Masteries: traditional caster masteries work well enough on her
Runes: I go for Magic pen and mana. The magic pen runes plus the sorcerers boots off the bat give you 32 magic pen around lvl 4, which pretty much means you are doing true damage to almost any character. I find this owns people early and makes her hit hard. The 15% pen in masteries is also added on top of this 32 for later game when people start stacking MR. The one quint of health is for a little added durability and the mana and mana regen is to allow you to spam your spells as much as you need. Its possible to use mana regen per level instead because it catches up around lvl 4 or 5 but i found the flat mana regen makes it so you hardly loose any mana for the first few levels. I have not tried incorporating AP runes in yet, i find the Magic pen really packs more early game power that helps you get those expensive Ap items sooner.

Noxious Blast(Q): Cassiopeia blasts an area with a delayed high damaging poison, dealing magic damage over 3 seconds and granting her movement speed for 2 seconds if she hits a champion.
Cooldown: 3 sec
Cost: 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 / 75 Mana
Magic Damage: 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+0.9 per Ability Power)
Movement Speed: 15 / 17.5 / 20 / 22.5 / 25 %
Miasma(W): Cassiopeia releases a growing cloud of poison that lasts for 7 seconds. Any enemy that passes through it is poisoned for 2 seconds, dealing magic damage each second and slowing them. Continual exposure renews this poison.
Cooldown: 9 sec
Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 Mana
Magic Damage: 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 (+0.15 per Ability Power)
Slow: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 %
Twin Fang(E): Cassiopeia deals magic damage to her target. If the target is poisoned then Twin Fang's cooldown is reduced to .5 seconds.
Cooldown: 5 sec
Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 Mana
Magic Damage: 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+0.45 per Ability Power)
Petrifying Gaze(R): Cassiopeia deals magic damage to all enemies in front of her. Enemies facing her are stunned for 2 seconds while enemies facing away are slowed.
Cooldown: 120 sec
Cost: 120 / 160 / 200 Mana
Magic Damage: 150 / 275 / 400 (+0.6 per Ability Power)
Slow: 40 / 50 / 60 %
Skill Combos: Her rage is pretty good so i find i can tower dive pretty easily with her. I lay down a W right at the base of the tower and then when they walk into it, hit them with a Q then quick E combo. I usually can do this all just within tower range so i get hit once during this whole exchange, meanwhile this combo does around half the enemies health in damage early game.
Most people don't see your W and even though they avoid the initial spray, they end up walking through it later while it is still lingering there. Use this to your advantage and position yourself on the opposite side of the cloud from your enemy, often times they will try to attack you and come through the cloud not knowing that it is there.
Her ult can be really useful in team situations, Ive had my whole team being chased by the enemy's whole team because we are at lower health, I turn around and ult on their team and lay a few slows and poison clouds and land some fangs then the tides have turned and our team is now chasing them back.
Her Q packs major damage late game, with my build only getting partially to zonya's i was doing 500+ damage with just the Q, which you can hit every 3 sec then follow with a ***. That does some serious damage.
Items: I start out with a doran's ring and a health pot. I usually don't like doran's items because they don't build into anything but in this case the added survivability early game is key IMO.
I usually wait as long as i can to go back which is normally around lvl 6, and depending how well ive done farming and killing champs depends on how much i get. I get sorcs boots first over any other item, this is key to the magic pen that i was talking about in the rune section. She hits hard with all that magic pen.
Then I get a catlyst(subcomponent order as needed) for some more durability. then i go blasting wand and get ROA. I think this is a key item for Ap and survivability. with my build i dont find her to be squishy at all. I am able to dive into team fights and get out fine. I finish the game with 3k+ Hp which is not a squishy champ.
Next i build my Rylais, order depend on how the match is going, if survivability is need more, go giants belt first. Normally i tend to go for the AP items because at this point my attacks are not packing as much punch as they were early game.
After Rylai's its pretty much whatever you feel like i have not gotten past zonya but i might go lich bane instead of zonyas because i feel this would work well on her.
NOTE: I am also considering rush Mejai's. I normally don't go for these because I find myself being too cautious and not wanting to loose stacks but even if she is not killing, the poison she lays down and slows as well as her ult in team fights give her a lot of assists as well as kills, And since my build has a lot of survivability mixed in, shes not that easy to kill.
