I believe just white text would be the best choice for the text contained in the columns, since they have blue background it gets very hard to read with purple text. I think the introduction that has black background could still be purple, just my opinion though and i dont know about other people having problems with the purple.
Good luck with this guide.
Hrm, actually, I hadn't noticed the backgrounds of the spoiler blocks were a dark blue instead of black until you'd mentioned this. Generally I just glanced at the first bit. This does make a bit of a problematic issue, now that I'm looking at it more carefully.
(Sorry, my colour vision is a bit duller than some people's, hence why I don't do texture work or spriting. It's not colour blindness, but apparently it's significantly less vibrant than to most people somehow, I dunno the specific details. It's odd, anyway.)
Anyway, that's of value so thanks, and I'll start looking into alternative methods now that I see why people have been complaining!
Lmao when you said how many words were in this at the start I was like; "Wtf? The scroller isn't that small!"
Then I saw the spoilers..
He...hehehehe... sorries. >.>;;
So uhm... yeah. Yeah there's a lot more in there. It's kind of packed up tightly because of how much there is crammed into this tiny space.
Anyway, I did a quick glance after opening all the pages up, and for my display settings, it's currently clocking in at 270 pages of text, with only a small amount of that being breaks and images. Considering you can cram far more text onto a computer page, than you can a page of a book, and it's probably already well past 400ish pages by now of novel sized print.
The scariest part is, this isn't even the entire guide finished, either. I still have a few more sections to translate over, though it's a bit of a slow process to do so, so it won't be done any time soon probably.
On the plus side, by the next time I set aside an entire day to work on finishing it, the guide should be done =3
And then it'll probably be closer to 350+ pages of text instead of 270 XD
Anyway, yeah... as stated, there's an awful lot of text. It's a lot of information to cover. Amazing how ocmplex and involved champion design is, isn't it? Even more so when one considers that I didn't even cover all of it, and this isn't even the subject I'm most well versed in! It's probably for the best for everyone that I don't write another guide on world design ^.~
Then I saw the spoilers..
Stuff to discuss, yay!
But with that being said would it be too much to ask for a PDF file?
Because personally it would be great if I could read it on my mobile device not at home.
Unfortunately it's a long and frustrating process to update stuff for mobafire alone, as it is. It takes a good 15 minutes or so per chapter, and I have somewhere around 15~20 chapters left to format still that are done being written, but not on the mobafire version yet.
PDFs are remarkably messy to work with, and a pain in general. I could technically throw together a really quick, messy PDF, but it would be significantly lower quality, with rotten formatting, and a pain to read. I don't think I could bring myself to provide just a poor quality translation.
If I were that interested in making a PDF, I'd make it a PDF from scratch and re-do the entire thing as an actual book on character design, built from the ground up to be sold as an actual book.
As such, to answer the question... no PDF, sorry ;_;
And you could more or less create a blog about game design, balance and so on. Through I'm not sure how many people would appreciate it or read it.
So please don't feel pressed from my request, I would feel horribly if I knew you got stress from writing too much or the likes.
Not at all! I actually host a (mostly) weekly discussion on game design already, set up as a Q&A session and can be found here: http://www.livestream.com/nekolith/folder
So far there's 5 episodes, each lasting about 2 hours apiece. It's a lot to sit through, especially with low quality audio and such, but meh, if yeu wants the extra stuff, it's there =3
It covers a lot more than just champion design, however, or even LoL, and wanders into game design as a whole in general.
great guide. but i find the purple a bit annoying :P.
I cant read it with the purple text
The purple hurts my eyes :/
This is a bit concerning, here. Is the text colouring a mild irritation, or physically making it difficult to read at all?
While I have no personal issues with such at all myself (I prefer it vastly over the default text), and I've checked with a colourblind friend to ensure that the colour scheme's legible to him, I'd previously just been assuming it was personal colour preferences that were bothering people.
If it actually is making it physically painful, or at least causing discomfort, this can be changed then.
However, to adjust it, then the question must become, to whot will it be changed to?
If fuchsia isn't a valid option, then which colour would be a preferred replacement?
Please discuss this matter and provide details, so that I can attempt to improve the guide overall.
While I won't try to play up to peoples individual personal preferences (pointless, as everyone will dislike one thing or another), I'm all for alleviating actual difficulty in focusing on the text. It's enough text as it is, without making it worse.
So... questions on text:
1: Whot kind of lighting conditions are yeu attempting to read in? Dark room with only a monitor on, or brightly lit?
2: Which colour scheme have yeu found best and easiest to read in other guides?
3: Is a link available to such so I can see how the colouring works for myself?
4: Would yeu prefer things to be broken up more obviously for colouration? A few times I've had detrimental things in red, and beneficial things in green (though colourblind people mostly can't see the difference, so it's rare for me to do this). Would yeu like to see this split up this way more often?
5: Is there a preferred colour yeu'd rather have in use?
Anyway, please answer the questions! If able, I shall adjust things to make it easier to read. If it mostly just turns out to be a matter of personal taste with everyone requesting opposing colour schemes, there may not be any realistic way to appease everyone.
For now, more information would help, so any that can be provided would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer ^.^

I was probably going to end up making it a forum thread. It would be easier to keep track of all the cool ideas if they were all compiled together. :D
That would make a great deal of sense. This implies MOBAFire has it's own forums, though I think it might be best I avoid such XD Just whot I don't need is yet another forum to distract me while trying to do work. =3
...I'm not addicted to forums. I CAN QUIT ANY TIME I WANT!
...I just... don't want to... *cough*
This is awesome. I'm planning on making a collaboration guide of champion concepts to showcase the creativity of other champion creators. Would you mind if I included a link to your guide here?
Not at all. I would suggest a warning that it's remarkably long, though.
I'd also suggest pointing people to the player's concept forum on the LoL site itself =3

Well anyways a great post/tread :D
Very deep.
I personally am not so familiar with champion designing but I can relate to most of these concepts.
+1 for sure.
