Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Alistar is probably the biggest threat for Yuumi in lane as she can't block any of his abilities for the adc.
Annie
Annie has a good chance of blowing you up but mostly needs her flash to do so as you outrange her if your adc knows how to play the matchup.
Bard
Since you are mostly attached to your adc, he can't stun you without a wall or minion close.
Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank is a major threat as there is a big chance of dying if he hits a hook either on you or on your adc. pre 6 there is a chance of surviving as blitz doesn't have his silence yet.
Brand
When hes engaging on your adc make sure to block his q after he hits an ability to prevent the stun, also he can't bounce his r on you and your adc.
Braum
Make sure to block his q for your adc if he's walking up to prevent the slow and stun from happening on your adc. If he gets his r off however, it's a lot harder to survive that
Fiddlesticks
If you drop him to low health no real problems should as you can kill him once he goes all in. Not poking him out enables him to all in with his r and fear.
Janna
With Janna's shield, poking is very hard, even though her shield cooldown is very long, she can still block most of your damage. Besides this she isn't much of a threat.
Karma
Karma will try to poke out your adc but you'll be able to heal this back up. Try to bait her w and jump back into your adc to try and bait for ganks.
Leona
As you can still try to w back in your adc after she e's you she's not an extreme threat, but she can still attack the adc which will probably not end well.
Lulu
With a knock up, many shields and even a polymorph, this champion has a lot of influence in a lane. Not only will she block most poke, but she can also prevent you to attach to your adc with her polymorph.
Lux
As long as you don't get hit by her Q, you should be bale to survive. When she hits her Q, try to W to your adc as fast as possible to avoid damage.
Morgana
If you and your adc can dodge Morgana's Q's you should be fine. However she will still be able to flash in and R both of you, which will most likely result in a death.
Nami
You can dodge Nami's Q by using your W to attach and dodge her bubble. When attached, you also have a good chance to outrun her R.
Nautilus
If you or the adc gets hit by even one of Nautilus' abilities, you're most likely dead. Try to catch his abilities to prevent your adc of dying.
Pyke
When you or your adc gets hit, there is no way to dodge the rest.
Rakan
As long as you can avoid his R-W combo, you should be fine, if you don't, death is almost imminent.
Shen
With only one cc spell, Shen is not really a big threat. Try to R him when he tries to R away and join a different fight.
Sona
Wit a lot of sustain, poke and a R that can stun you, Sona is a big threat for you and your adc.
Soraka
With a lot of sustain and an E to prevent you to attach to your adc, Soraka is a match up with an even possibility of winning.
Tahm Kench
When trying to survive a gank or engage, block Tahm's Q to prevent your adc from being slowed.
Taric
Since you can poke him out, and his sustain mostly consists from auto attacks, poking him out is possible. His e is easily dodge able and his R can only mitigate so much and is less useful vs poke.
Thresh
One hook will ruin the entire lane for you depending on the enemy adc. If she has any form of cc you wont survive getting hit.
Yuumi
Skill match-up.
Zilean
Hitting a double Q stun on you should be impossible if you are close to your adc. You can easily poke him and zone for your adc.
Zyra
With a lot of damage and a root that can prevent you from attaching to your adc, Zyra is capable of winning the lane with ease.
Ashe
With long range and good poke, Ashe is fine laner as she also has her R to disengage.
Caitlyn
Long range and her e to escape hard engage, Cait is the perfect laner for Yuumi.
Corki
Even though Corki has a good escape, his short range makes him vulnerable to engage. This makes it hard for Yuumi to survive in this lane. His good poke might work again short range and passive lanes.
Draven
With W granting AD, Draven becomes even more powerful then with other laners. His lack of escape might make it harder but that has always been a bad thing about Draven.
Ezreal
Good poke, good escape, what else do you need.
Jhin
Mostly the same case as Draven. High increase of AD but lack of escape.
Jinx
With low escape but high mobilty after a kill, and your e giving a lot of movement speed, jinx works when getting ahead. When behind, this lane gets really hard to play.
Kai'Sa
With her high damage output, potential to go in when the enemy is low from poke and stealth in mid to late game, this champion has a good compatibility with Yuumi.
Kalista
Very low range champion makes it hard to walk up as they can just go on kalista and you have no way to disengage. Also not a champion who likes to build high amounts of AD.
Lucian
Low range but high mobility. When you are capable of poking the enemy out, Lucian can capitalise on this very well. Really dependant on the enemy laners.
Miss Fortune
Likes to build a lot of AD which works with Yuumi's W. Also likes to poke a bit depending on if she can hit Q's. Very dependant on the skill of MF.
Quinn
Good roaming possibilities from level 6 onwards. Besides this, has some poke with Q and good all in potential when the enemies are low from poke.
Sivir
Good mobility with R, good poke with Q and builds a lot of AD. Overall a really good champion too play Yuumi with.
Tristana
Good engage and escape in one, has a lot of burst to capitalise on poke dealt.
Twitch
Yuumi gets invisible when Twitch Q's.... yeah.
Varus
Long range, good poke and an R to either disengage or capitalise on low health enemies.
Vayne
Short range makes it hard for Yuumi to play safe. If Vayne ever gets caught out, Yuumi instantly dies after. Purely dependant on the skill of the Vayne.
Xayah
Good disengage and reasonable poke. An all round good champion to play Yuumi with.

After Yuumi had been brought to life in League, she immediately caught my eye. She's cute, is a support, yes, I am a support main, and has the ability to play paint in my favourite game. I mean just looking at those mesmerising flying skittles makes me feel like a cat seeing a mouse. But this is not your normal guide to learning Yuumi. For me there is only one way to play this game as a support. You're the carry after all.... right....
Why damage
The reason why you build damage and especially Mejai's is because of your high capability of staying alive, with jumping from ally to ally. Building a rabadons after will only enhance this damage and give you the pleasure in life of poking enemy to death with a cute kitty cat :). Not only is this very fun to do but also works well with your W. The more AP Yuu build the more AP your AD will have. The perfect combo of a happy lane.
Laning phase
As there are already a lot of guides out there, I'm not going to go too much in depth of the abilities but will explain the basics of them. In laning phase you want to block important abilities to try and make your laner surviving dire situations as you can catch abilities and flee by attaching to your adc with your W. For instance if Tahm uses his Q, try to block it in order to prevent the slow from happening to your adc. This gives you better options to escape.
When attached to you adc, try to poke with your Q to get the enemy low, in order to gain lane pressure. When your Q is on cooldown, or when your passive is off cooldown, try to detach from your adc and auto attack the enemy laners to get a shield which you can pass off to your adc or just use yourself to trade and get mana back from the enemy.
Mid to late game
In the mid game you will most likely have your Mejai's and rabadons finished, which means you can poke the enemy down and try to push objectives to gain an advantage. If you already have Athene's finished, try to heal your ally's of cooldown for big juicy heals. Try to jump around from ally to ally to give them a aery shield when possible to keep the Mejai's stacks up. Also, when in a fight, try to stick to the player who will benefit most from your adaptive damage from the W.
Outro
In my opinion, this is the most fun way of playing Yuumi instead of the boring and standard ultra healing support. Since your getting a lot of AP, your heals will heal a lot anyway and this makes it better for poking. Feel free to give me tips for future guides as this was the first guide i produced.
Thanks for everyone reading this guide and good luck on the rift :).
