Introduction
Do not get a majai's soulstealer in ranked games as you will undoubtedly be aimed a lot more than needed.
Vladimir is a great tanky and healing champion as his transfusion has an inbuilt regeneration and when stacked with a will of the ancients and a spirit visage, the regeneration is superb and in recent patches the will of the ancients item cost has decreased and the life drain was increased by an extra 5%. Along with the runes vladimir is a great damage dealer and tank.
Until his transfusion is maxed and you have will of the ancients as well as boots of lucidity so you can increase your health regen from transfusion and reduce you're cdr (cool down reduction) Just poke with you're Q. You can generally do well on a 1v1 fight and possibly 2v1, vladimir will need a solo lane so he can level faster. Make sure that you have your pool early on so you can get away from ganks, and make sure to use ghost first then pool because they stack, but only if you think you wouldn't be able to get away. You will need the void staff last to get past the magic resist that the other team would most likely have been building by the end of the game, if you dont get this you wont be able to dish out as much damage late game. By the time you finish you're build buy an elixer of brilliance and elixer of fortitude.
The runes that i have chosen work well with vladimir's passive Crimson pact, so by late game you will most likely have more health than the tank and be dishing out a lot more damage than him, there is a lot of math that goes into figuring out what goes best with vladimir because his passive gives every 40 points of bonus health gives vladimir 1 ability power and every 1 point of ability power gives vladimir 1.4 bonus health. so the Quintessences and seals will make vladimir not only more tanky but will give him more ability power which leads to more damage
Ghost provides the necessary speed to escape and when its stacked with sanguine pool you are untargetable so when used right you will almost always survive. It is important when you will not escape to use ghost then sanguine pool as they do stack.
I can't tell you how many times it frustrates me when im doing a 1v1 and the other person has so much lifesteal that its impossible to kill them. so when fighting use ignite on a person who is healing rapidly to almost half the healing and you will most likely be able to win the fight. Ignite is also useful to finish off the escaping enemy.
Try to get blue buff at around level 6-8 so when you do get into fights you have the extra cdr (cool down reduction) vladimir can almost stay in lane all the time due to his health pots at the start and then his 'poker' transfusion which heals his health, so you will not be having to run back to base all the time just to heal more for items. Try to gank whichever lane needs help when the opposite person in you're lane recalls to heal or get a item. If you have a jungle then try to help out the solo lane. If your team and the opposite team has a jungle then you should go to the top lane. Vladimir need's the boost in kills early game so in his late game he can wreak havoc upon the unsuspecting noobs. During team fights if you feel you are getting focused use you're R (HemoPlauge) on the group then use your W (Sanguine Pool) and they wont know what happened, Sanguine pool is a great ultimate as it leads to an extra 12% dish out of damage when it is cast.
