Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Masteries
My build focuses not only on maximizing the damage of Mystic Shot, but also in being able to readily cast it, as I also grab mana and cooldown reduction. To this end, I rush a Chalice of Harmony to synergize with my mana regeneration Runes and Masteries. I stay with the default Boots of Speed for a long time because none of the stats they offer are particularly attractive. Boots of Swiftness or possibly Mercury Treads are the most likely combinations later in the game, though. Sword of the Occult and Brutalizer are of particular interest to me because all of their stats affect Mystic Shot, as opposed to Last Whisper or Infinity Edge, where the attack speed and critical strike modifiers would be ignored. Once I have a strong damage baseline and some cooldown reduction, Sheen is my next pick because it adds a significant amount of damage to my Mystic Shot: It both generates and then uses the Sheen buff in one cast, making it a perfect item for this build. I rush to turn it into a Trinity Force because I gain some very useful stats, namely the ability to slow my enemies with relative frequency. Though it is not shown in the video, the Bloodthirster is an excellent item for continuing your build; stealing large amounts of life from relative safety is an extremely potent tactic.
There are a few more strong points to Ezreal that were not outlined in the video: He is extremely adept at slaying the Golem and Lizard by himself. With my build, you will hit maximum cooldown reduction when wielding the Golem buff, giving you a 2.4 second Mystic Shot, which will also apply Lizard buff to your enemies. Secondly, while running away from your opponents, you should continue using Mystic Shot, even if you won’t slow with it. Each hit reduces cooldowns by 1 second, meaning Arcane Shift will be available sooner. Once you have a few stacks on your passive, you should try to keep it stacked. If you miss a Mystic Shot or there are no creeps nearby, try to heal a teammate with Essence Flux to keep your stacks alive. Lastly, spam your ultimate as much as you can, and then find a lane to farm with Mystic Shot to bring the spell back up quickly.
