Try farming safe before hitting level 6. This is why you bought your Doran's blade and this will prove to be quite useful.

Against bursty assassins, you'd want to herr*** them so that they can't easily create an exchange that they'd surely win. You shouldn't herr*** when you can't do this safely!

Against strong poky casters, you'd want to try and get your E off on them if you can safely. You can also do this when not too safe, but make sure to have your W so that you can put off extra damage/escape!

Against champions that you're strong against, try to poke as much as possible and maybe kill them after level 6!

Try to focus on bursting down their most important damage-carry! Also, you can use your Buster Shot to keep away dangerous enemies from your team, like Leona or Renekton.
