I would like to point out that using Bulwark during his ult is somewhat counter productive, yes you get healed, but you are also nerfing the damage coming in, because you hit for X amount + 80% (I think it was 80% haven't played Galio in a while =P) of the damage taken, so by using Bulwark you're nerfing that 80% quit a bit.
The bonus dmg from his ult is based on the amount of hits he takes. not the dmg that is done to him. you gain +10% for every hit you take. and yes a max of 80%.
I would say this build works well because of a few things.
1) The diversity in items and team support
2) Because you have to understand the situation to know you may be getting GA before(if at all) FoN.
3) The success of each player will depend on mastery and rune combination.
While diversity of opponents is key, this is very similar to the EU meta poking game and not just mass team fights. This is a much stronger team build than massive, continuous, and expensive team fights.
(I am referencing the WCG competition in poking vs. massive team fights and how it differed)
And yes the items are completely situational after agies. Most of the time I will go with GA. If its a caster heavy team then I go FON next. If its a mele heavy team I will go with thornmail or Sunfire next. I prefer Thornmail though. And after I get one of those items go with the GA.

But it's all situational I guess, if you need the health Bulwark it up and heal and do some decent damage, but if you have the health to tank all of it go in there and wreck stuff.
Anyways...sorry, got off topic. Good build I liked it a lot. I was wondering if Randiuen's Omen was viable on him too? Mainly because I'm not a big fan of Ageis of the Legion, would it be Viable to swap Omen for that or something? I do understand he's magic and all, but the +90 armor couldn't hurt :) Especially when tanking through your ult. Thoughts? Again Good build, liked it and it was very effective in a game :D
I dont understand why you have so many mixed Runes and glyphs.. FoN and Thornmail need to be optional based on the enemy team. No explanation. Very bad Description and lay out of the build. Your skill choices are some what lack luster as a shield even at lvl 2 isnt very much health back and would be better spent on getting some burst dmg with RG. I dont think Flash outweighs ghost with this champ especially since Ghost, and RG stack.
Needs more Elixir of Brilliance. Spending the Gold for this is well worth the boost.
And going with B-wong (kinda) stacking all of that MR isn't to helpful when trying to get AP. Sure its only half, but you can easily sack one of the lesser MR giving items, and go with something that gives AP, like for example: Lich's Bane or Void Staff. (Just examples, don't fret.)
But overall, a good
If I was going for a carry or dmg build yes i would agree with you. But I play him as a tank so that's why I don't have any strait AP gear.
