oh, i didn't mean B.F. as my second item, i always take Brutalizer before that. Actually, looking at the builds I've got up here, the build order is like that for all of them, even the basic one is Doran's -> Boots -> Brutalizer -> Phage (which I'll be replacing) -> B.F. Sword -> Youmuu's -> IE, and I do say in the core items section that if you're being fed plenty you should grab Infinity Edge before Youmuu's, so I don't see a huge problem there. I know some people just glance at the builds and don't read the whole guide, but if that's the case and it affects their games... tough lol

well, as i said, you have to be patient when building garen. your dmg output goes like this: *
_____-************. I dont agree with the early B.F. You want the Brutalizer as your second item no matter what.

Thanks again for the input. I'd been thinking about just rolling the 4 builds into 2 and simply having a section for alternate item paths, I think I'll do that. I remember someone else said in one of their guides that 4 builds seems tacky heh. I agree about the Frozen Mallet, works better on the 4th build since it does more auto-attacking anyway. I may be overdoing it a little with Youmuu's, and most games I tend to get a B.F Sword first anyway, but I always notice a solid increase in my damage output once i've got it, and given that it's a lot faster to get than Infinity Edge most games, i do put a lot of stock in it.

I highly recomend to include warmogs+atmas into your primary build. Youmumus should not be completed before everything else, and frozen mallet is just wrong on garen, as you will be spinning 24/7 with 40% cdr and frozen mallet does only proc on auto attacks.

EDIT: you need to rework your guide. One build is more than enough, otherwise people feel like just skipping the whole guide.

Thanks for the comments, taking some suggestions on board, but do please remember that there's a disclaimer saying all of this is very much work in progress and I'm still messing about with it in-game ;)
So far I'm having great success in 3v3 matches but haven't been playing much 5v5, I'll update the guide accordingly soon.
In regards to the CDR, I DO consider 40% CDR more helpful than additional AD. Excluding being focused by 3+ enemies, I usually only die if I get caught without cooldowns, so I like having as much CDR as possible, after all, if I liked the other builds I've looked at on Mobafire, I'd just play one of them as-is rather than bothering to write my own, wouldn't I? ;)
Besides, even without that extra AD boost I'm still dropping squishy champs like Ashe easily, and if I need more damage vs tanks I'll just build anti-tank. The damage output from both the 2nd and 4th builds is already massive, and the 1st and 3rd builds are really more about survivability than damage anyway.

PS: Thanks for pointing out the Avarice Blade thing to me deathalo44, new player and all that, mistakes happen lol
I don't entirely agree to Rally being useless as I have used it on Garen successfully before I unlocked Flash, but I'll make some updates explaining my reasoning better.
Also, throughout the guide I continually refer to the 3rd build as an Off-Tank w/ high end-game damage ;)

the key to a successful garen is patience. and LOTS of survivability. Only difference between my guide and yours stats-wise is that i dont see the need of cdr with garen, so i have more ad than you, more crit chance, more movement-speed and 1k hp more than you. Im saying this because i think your "primary" build is extremely damage focused, but not really living up to my expectations in-game. The 40% cdr is NOT worth compared to 40-60 extra ad, 500-1k extra hp, and 50-100 ekstra armor/resistance. and you only have 5 items in your build. This build needs a seriouse rework, and you should try out some maths to see if its worth spamming your abilities, and maybe apply some common sense to see if 40% cdr helps when you are dead.

Clairvoyance and Fortify are good choices, Rally has too long cd and too weak effect to be good.

Madred's Bloodrazors aren't good items for Garen since he autoattacks too slow.

Your Garen as a tank can only be classified as an off-tank since you are so vulnerable to magic damage and madred's.

There is no point stacking Avarice Blade (or any gold items with the same name) since the patch doesn't aloow more than 1 avarice blade's gold effect, meaning other items are better.

Killstealing is WAY better than letting the person live, no matter the scenario.

Hope it helps :)
