Yorick The DPS Slayer

Welcome to Yorick the Undying

Yorick's primary role is as melee DPS and he is very good at it. However Yorick is versatile and can turn very tanky with the right items. Going tank with Yorick will seriously reduce his damage and without a taunt or stun you will find enemy players ignoring you as a threat and focusing on other group members.

Yorick as melee DPS is very strong and can focus down single opponents very quickly. He is especially good at ganks on other DPS targets, able to focus them down from full life in 2-4 seconds when fully geared. I mention 2-4 seconds because that is his highest damage output timeframe.

Once you have unlocked your three main abilities you are ready to close in on opponents and start dealing serious damage. Yorick gains an increase to attack for each zombie minion he has in play (max of 3, your ultimate ability's clone doesnt count). However your zombies only last for a short time. This means you need to close to almost melee range with your opponent before spamming all of your abilities then immediately enter melee and pursue if necessary. If the battle lasts more than 4 seconds then you need to evaluate the situation to see if you can land kill shots using the max range of your abilities. If not its time to disengage and recoup some mana.

The reason for disengaging is fairly obvious when you start chasing. As you just spammed all of your abilities they are on cooldown and they all have slightly different cooldown timers. This will make it difficult for you to have all 3 of your zombie minions in play again for several seconds. This also means that if your opponent is familiar with Yorick they will avoid melee range with him until several seconds after his zombies are cast then turn on him and engage. This is why you want to be close to your enemy before spamming your abilities. If your opponent runs and you cant land your melee hits with all your zombies out as they run away then you should watch out for a return gank and pull back.

Chapter 2

Beginner Bots:
This is super easy for Yorick. Just remember to becareful and go mainly for minion kills until level 3 unless the bots are very vulnerable. I suggest going level 1 boots, 2 heal potions and 1 mana potion. Save your mana potion until level 3.

Harrass the bots with your Omen of Pestilence to back them away while you clean up minion kills. Next level your Omen of Famine and start turning more agressive. Try to reduce the bots in your lane close to half life but dont chase them past the turrets until your ready for the gank at level 3. Try not to spend all your mana before level 3. When you reach level 3 drink your mana potion while you let the bots in your lane push towards your tower. Then pick the most vulnerable bot, close to melee range and spam all 3 abilities on them. Melee attack then go for the kill. If they are getting away hit them with Ignite and a final Omen of Pestilence.

After your champion kills recall back then buy your magic resist boots, 2 heal potions, 2 mana potions and whatever components you can afford towards Infinity Edge. Now you can be aggressive enough to pounce on any bots foolish enough to close to melee range with you, but you still need to be careful. Your damage isnt high enough yet to take on multiple bots solo. You will atleast need your Infinity Edge first. Farm minion and champion kills until you can afford your B.F. Sword then get it quickly. Once you have Infinity Edge you are ready for warfare. Beware of towers. You may have some HP but not enough to take 3 tower hits and live through an enemy champion. Watch for stuns and use Flash to get out if you cant close to melee range.
