Introduction

When a new champ comes out it takes a while for people figure out how to really build them. Now obviously depending on what you are going against you may need to make adjustments to the build, but for the most part, this is the best way to extract the most out of Graves.

Ignore any typos and missed comas lol, its late but I will continue to update :D <3

Runes and Masteries

To me this is the most important part of this build. I have experimented with almost everything and to me this has brought the best results.

To get the most out of Graves, especially early game, you need to take advantage of both is passive and his pure burst damage. So, for runes we will use armor pen quints and marks. For seals and glyphs we will use Flat armor and MR per lvl. The reason we do this is so that we can take advantage of Graves' fantastic passive. This is what will start to set you apart from more squishy longer range carries.

For masteries the goal again is to take advantage of both Graves' damage and passive armor and resists. We go the standard 21 Offense, while putting putting 3 in resistance and hardiness to again buff our passive, and finally 3 into good hands for end game spawn time.

Item and Skill Sequence

Now we are on to the most important part of the build, this being the sequence of both skills and items. Now remember the goal is to take advantage of Graves burst damage and his passive.

Items:
The first thing you will notice is that I go with a BT first. The reason for this is that Graves early game damage comes mainly from his Q ability in close range. Also because Graves tends to be in a closer proximity to his targets the life steal combined with your passive will keep you firmly in lane scaring your opponents.

Now the next major item we come to is IE. I do firmly believe that going BT/IE/PD is better overall then trying to fit a trinity force into the build. TF is great and is very useful for graves, but BT into IE extracts the most out of early and mid game over sheen/phage/zeal ect. Now the reason I go straight IE is because Graves dash gives us a great passive attack speed that we can take advantage of when engaging, and these two items will provide the most burst for your Q.

Now after these two items it can be tricky. If you are having a great early game you can go straight to a PD, but if you are feeling to squishy id recommend going with the zeal/phage combo for crit/as/hp and a slow. I usually do this and then finish my PD and Mallet.

The other option if you are having a really hard time surviving after IE is again to take advantage of our passive and get a Guardians now. Its passive MR and armor compliment your own passive well and deter people from focusing you first.

Summary

The main thing to keep in mind about graves is that he is a mid range AD who relies on both heavy burst and survive-ability to bring is team to victory. The great thing about this build is that you can concentrate primarily on damage items and in the end sill be tuff to bring down. As far as tips on playing I find that for the most part he is straight forward to control, and I do not find it necessary to spend a lot of time with it unless you guys really would like me to. There are a few tips though that I would like to go over before I conclude this build.

Early game: Get additional dorans blades if you need to at the start.

In team fights you do not always need to use your grenade on your target, you an section off parts of their team temporarily to focus down critical champs.

Do not forget to dash through thin walls!

If the enemy is Ap or AD heavy you can substitute guardians for Thorn/randuins/atmas or FON
